I really like the concentric circling of the orbs, it echoes the sweep of the wings beautifully

Thank you. I'm glad I was able to get at least one composition to work with ellipses properly.

Thanks. I think it worked much better here than a full color palette would have, and it took substantially less time! I was thinking"ice sculpture" once I got finished.

That's awesome. Almost reminds me of the character Grove (sp?) from Hunter D: Bloodlust movie.

Hey-yeah, you're right! What with all the little floaty balls of glowy stuff and all... LOL. Except the ones here probably aren't weapons-grade glowy balls.
Vampire Hunter D/Bloodlust was fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous it was - especially that dark cathedral.

I only just saw it. (pretty slow huh )
Thank god for Veoh! Loved the story line and graphics. Definantly one of the best anime movies I've seen so far.

I love how soft it looks... And also how well you do glowing and illumination. Looks wonderful.

Thanks!
I had a lot of fun with the multiple light sources in this one. I thought it was going to be an absolute pain in the butt, but then I realized that if I pared down the color scheme to just a few colors in the blue-white range, I could get it to work with minimal fuss. Got the thing done in about six hours. Now I just need to print a boatload of 'em...

Been a while since commenting on one of your stuffs. I've been contending with the evil Class Finals lately.
I really like the lights you used and the neat way you made all the persons features and wings flow. It really looks just great. And those blues! Brilliant! ^^
Have some sweet holidays, Rachael!

Thanks very much! Happy holidays to you as well.
Ooooog... I remember finals week. Trying to FORGET finals week. The art classes could be especially arduous, as I recall. Something about "wow-me" projects... *shudders* Good luck to you. By this time you may be all finished, so I hope that everything has turned out well.

They all went fine, I guess, but believe me when I say the Finals were the best part of my week. Ice storm knocked out power/water last Sunday and I just got it back tonite!(im freaking out at using the microwave btw xD ) So geting to go to a warm school was quite enjoyable. Dez, poor iggy, was darned excited to get back into her warm cage.
My finals this time consisted of mostly long term chiroscuro charcoal pics, along with my matted Master Works Copy project. My final piece to turn in tho was a big messy charcoal thing that is prolly the best still-life thing Ive ever done. ^^ Next up, Drawing 2(with 80+ y/o "Nude Bob" ) , and 2D Fundimentals. Yay!

Thanks! It's hard for me to get gifts for all of my extended family and friends. I find that a personalized card such as this is a good remedy.

LOL - Gooood, the hair and head distract you from the half-arsed job I did on the hands... *shifty eyes*
Thanks!

Absolutely gorgeous! Extra points for using ever known shade of blue in the package.
I'm sure everyone who gets the cards will love them.

LOL! Thanks very much. I didn't hit on the greeny-blues so much this time (as those are typically my favorites); I stuck with the three or four purpley-blues instead. Gave me a very nice, subdued color effect.

rachaelm5 In reply to X-A-N-A [2007-12-09 02:12:22 +0000 UTC]
Actually, there are about 8 colors in this, but a lot of them are very close in value, so they blend together almost seamlessly. If I used just one color, it would look a LOT different. Much of the depth would be missing - I used a bluey-purple to give the shadows some extra punch, and I threw in a lot of deco aquamarine to get the background greens to balance out with the sharp whites on the feathers.

Can you imagine if you had to do a fractal cartoon that was broadcast live? Talk about a terrible strain on your wrists.
