Thanks very much.
Yeah, this guy is awfully colorful for a deep sea creature - most of those deep sea things are transparent!

transparent, black, red and glowy.
but even though that is a fancy combination of colours too, I do like this green-blue pallet better. looks more water-like

Patience springs eternal.
About how long does it take you to prismacolor a piece this detailed? Also, how do you avoid overlapping prisma on your inking lines? No matter how careful I am, I usually have to touch stuff up with black later....

LOL - Patience springs eternal, but can only be taken in small doses.
A 9x12 like this takes ten to twelve hours to color, spread out over a weekend. I tend to be pretty careful about riding right up next to the linework, but I do overlap it a lot, so I go back and retouch with a dark color (indigo in this case) once the filled areas are finished.

Thanks! I like blues a whole lot, too. It takes some effort to get out of blue mode sometimes.

Thanks very much!
Greens and blues are still among my favorite color combinations... But I think I say that about nearly every color combination I use.

Awesome! I'm glad you're pleased with the way this guy turned out. I was thinking of both waves and juvenile emperor angelfish for his patterns, though I think in the end it is a little *too* neat and clean.

Watercolor does do a fantastic job of eating up all that white space, doesn't it?

(*Gasp*) The colors done are astoundingly rich; love how the tones gave it such life and such care to keep it so crisp! Amazing work!
