Description
I've been meaning to make one of these for a while, I had the size references sitting around for over a year probably. The layout's not very good and I probably forgot to include some things but eh.In case it's not clear, this is actually a reference sheet for two individual dragons (a red one and a green one.) Anatomically they're pretty much the same, you can think of them as pallet swaps of one another if you want. I just used the red one for most of the images to make it less confusing.
One thing I'm not sure I defined well was that while the horn colors are the same for both of them (off-white at the base fading to dark brown at the tip,) their claws are different (red dragon has off-white claws, green dragon has dark brown claws.)
Anyway, about the dragons themselves.. they don't really have individual names or even a species name that I know of, I just call them dream dragons for lack of a better term. The red one is basically "me," a form I can use during lucid dreaming to change the outcome of a bad dream or just make things more interesting. The origin of their design is entirely subconscious, they just sort of showed up in my head one night years ago and have been a recurring element ever since.
They're extremely personal characters and I rarely share art of them, although I do draw them a lot. This is mainly being uploaded as a resource for myself, to show what I want for commissions / art trades / etc in the future. I do NOT want to see my dragons used in any form without my permission, EVER.

This is very detailed. I'm doing something like this for a story I'm writing, but not quite like you did. It's more of an anatomy, from the skeleton on up. I do find it interesting how the feet are very human-like. I don't know if I've seen anything like that before.
I also noticed you mentioned something about a dream. I had a strange experience once where I was just falling asleep, when I was suddenly awake, and in my vision (eyes closed) was a black dragon with gold symbols on it's chest. Don't know how to explain it, but it is something I won't forget. (From the Sporum if you don't recognize my name.)

Ah! Another self representation born from a lucid dream! My own self-representation as also born from one - I had dreamed that I was the black and yellow catlike beast I draw often.
What a wonderful thing, seeing your true form within your dreams~

I missed this picture... VERY cool! I can highly appreciate something like this ^__^
It's really neat that you can recall your dream forms to this amount of detail (and recreate it through art). It's hard to critique a design created in such a way... but I approve of the feathered wings. It's a cute dragon overall ^^

I love my dragons, I know they're pretty strange but they're also very "me", it's really only something I could come up with in my sleep XP

That reminds me of some of my dream-related fictional ideas. Sometimes wonder if ALL of my best ideas come from dreams, because anything I seem to come up with consciously is boring or lacks creativity... XD

I seem to come up with my best ideas when I'm either asleep or dead tired XP

I wish I could lucid dream :C
in my dreams I often am a not well identified flying creature/bird, but I never got to look at "myself"... would be awesome if I did though.

Dreams tend to lack detail outside of your area of focus. Dreams are a weird mix of visuals, sound (the whole "thinking to yourself" thing), and information that fills in the gaps left by the undetailed visuals.
So unless you are focusing on any part of yourself in your dream then your bird is nothing more than the concept of a bird.

It's hard to focus on the shape if I am not aware I am dreaming though... because in that moment, it's just so real and natural to be a bird, I don't even think about looking at myself to check how I look like.

My flying attempts are like that as well. Occasianily I can start flying by flapping my "wings" with a lot of effort without running, but it doesnt happen often. I also usually glide a lot.
I have been something a it like the red atr least once.
usually my dragon form is more streamlined, and the scales are smooth like a snake's or Aligator-lizard's scales would be.
My wings are usually the bat-type wings.
...I miss bieng a dragon. I wish I had more dragon dreams.
Lucky you has lucid dreams. I have never had even one

Labored flying seems to be a pretty common trait of dream dragons, another one that comes to mind is ~Chikkennoodul 's Enoonmai [link] Maybe it's because we aren't used to it in our waking life? -shrug-
The best thing I can suggest for lucid dreaming is to listen to music while you sleep. It doesn't really matter what, when I was little I left the radio on and now I usually pick something and set it to loop in Winamp overnight. From what I can tell, being able to hear it in your sleep seems to keep your conscious mind just active enough to understand when you're dreaming.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that tonight

Wow, its feet have almost a human/ape-like quality. That is kind of neat.

Yeah, I always thought of them as pretty much like talony hands. The hindfeet looks weird though and they're always the hardest part to draw =S

Love the head shots. The top view looks good too. Though the side-on seems.. wrong.
The heel of the back legs probably should be off the ground, the front legs are looking a bit stick-like so you may want to throw a curve or two into those lines, the neck seems a bit too thick, and it is very unbalanced with most of the weight at the front.

I know the plantigrade stance looks weird and the anatomy is strange overall but it's always been like that XP Here is an embarrassingly old drawing to compare - [link]
The way I've drawn them has sort of evolved over the years but the main features always remain the same, since I'm extremely hesitant to make any changes that'd be non-canon (ones I didn't come up with in my sleep, that is) >_>;
I do like how ~Droemar did the profile stance [link] but they look more like dragons there and less like whacked out snake ferrets.. and whacked out snake ferret is really more true to the source XP

I'd hate to say it, but your old drawing looks more balanced.
