Description COMET WIND

Species
: Alicorn [natural]
Gender: Female
Parents: unnamed/unknown
Nicknames: none
Residence: unknown mountain

Personality: Quiet and proper, Comet is the definition of the Old Kingdom.
Main Interests: Stargazing, Tea, Flowers, Ponywatching
Notice: Comet did indeed 'brown out' a bit from her younger years. Her younger self was much more green than today.

Comet was born before the time of Celestia and Luna; far before their parents even, when Alicorns were another kind, not royalty, but protectors. Guardians. Helpers. She was born in a time of peace and stability among the other species, to a loving mother and father. They raised their child well, and when the time came, they let their child go; there was nothing more they could teach her.

Comet found her calling among the stars rather than among the ponies, as there was little to protect or support. She found her place in directing meteors and comets away from the earth.
Nights went by, and Comet found that redirecting the falling debris was rather easy. Not to mention almost beautiful when she tossed them away. They burned trails across the sky, and those who were below always seemed to marvel at them as they flew by and disappeared in a wink. But those nights turned into days, then to weeks. Months. Years. Centuries. Comet lost track after a while, but remained vigilant in her work - lest something crash down and destroy what beautiful work was among the earth. But she noticed something was off. There were far fewer who noticed her dazzling displays. Nopony made their wishes by her fair, trailing lights. Below her, the earth had grown tired and, perhaps barren? Something was gravely wrong.
Oh, how Comet wished she was dreaming when she saw the world below.

War had erupted between the Alicorns and a dark force Comet had never seen before. There was news of loss, destruction, chaos; and it was too much for Comet, so she fled. Weak of will and far to cowardly to stand ground and fight, she turned her tail and left. Towards the mountains, she escaped, higher and higher. The peaks rose, and higher still she went. Away from the destruction. Away from her people. Away from her duties.
Settling at the broken peak of a tall range, she laid herself down, too weary and too ashamed to cry tears for her kind and their struggles. So prostrate she remained for a long, long time. So long, in fact, that her breath cleared away the snow from the small peak, and soon a few wisps of green mosses began to grow. Then flowers. All while Comet lay quiet, contemplating what would've become of her had she been there, had she stood with her kind.
But it was too late then.

After such thinking, and a few regret-filled seasons of pacing her small perch back and forth until a clear trail was worn down in the dirt, Comet finally let her eyes drift closed, the dull aches of years without sleep finally winning over the Alicorn's body. With that, she slept. She slept without dreams, without thought, without meaning. Moments passed in breaths, the warmth of her body was the only thing keeping the small mountain top garden from withering into nothingness, and yet, it shielded her from the cold and the ice.

In turn though, Comet would wake in intervals; and turn her attention to the skies, casting away anything that she saw as a potential threat. But there was little else the Alicorn would do. She'd fall right back into that sinking feeling, and it would once again pull her to her knees. And so she would sleep again.

Routine. It was the same, continuous, sleep, walk, sleep, walk... soon it all became surreal to Comet, and she would recall less and less of what had passed. She would only know that the small flowers that littered where she walked were beautiful. Nothing more, as there was nothing there to know.

Perhaps if she would just gaze down at the world below the mountain, she would be bothered less? To see that other Alicorns still roamed, that the world was not in flames? But then again - after such a long time, would she even remember?

It is not for us to know.

---

Comet is meant to be more of a lore figure, and is part of my personal AU. She should be able to be integrated just fine into other AUs as well though, and should not, by any means, be thought of as some super powerful goddess figure. She does not fight and would never dream of trying to harm another pony, and represents the Old Kingdom, a society of natural Alicorns who thrived before Chaos.

fun facts:

• Comet's diadem and neck cuff are both made out of meteorite, inlayed with jadeite [jade - imperial variety].
These decorative pieces were crafted for her due to the fact that she particularly enjoyed the prospect of looking much more regal, not that there was any set ruling class. The diadem also served to push back the mare's mane from her eyes, as it was more like a headband.

• She's made herself a small home and garden atop the mountain, and since her presence keeps the snow and ice melted in the vicinity, it's a quaint little place.

• Comet's ever-flowing mane and tail act more like fire than the typical wispy design seen in other Alicorns. Think like an eternal green nightlight.

• Comet avoids violence at all costs. She will also avoid most confrontations at all costs as well.

• She is still very much alive in current (au) time, but remains in a perpetual cycle fueled by her own dwellings on what happened to her kind. While she does not blame herself for any of it, she does regret her cowardice.

• She does not know of the princesses Celestia and Luna. She does not know of the Elements of Harmony. She does not know anything of the 'current' society.

• Comet does NOT CURRENTLY leave her mountain. She is stuck there, and refuses to leave because she regrets leaving everyone behind. To her, it's best that she avoid anything to do with what's happened.

• Comet's magic is fairly weak due to prolonged fatigue - if she were to leave the mountaintop, her magic would not be able to reach the meteors and comets that fall too close to the planet. (over time it would, but due to centuries of the same repetitive cycle, her body's become accustomed to that distance.

• Although she doesn't usually remember the few who've crossed her path, she has occasionally had a pony or two visit her mountain top. Granted, they think they're hallucinating due to altitude sickness or the cold, but they kindly accept her hospitality. They never stay long, and Comet generally forgets about them.

Quote(s)
"I'm not to keen on this -- are you positive this is alright?"
"What do you mean it's been thousands of years???"
"I'm afraid I do not recall..."
"OH! Stars above!"

Nighttime color scheme is different from Daytime.

I think comets and meteors are proof of just how beautiful, and how dangerous these hunks of rock, ice, and metal can really be.
