Description This is for the Secret Satan Exchange, held by the group. The person I was assigned to was =MacabreVampire After browsing through her site, trying to investigate what she liked, I noticed she was a Kuroshitsuji (or 'Black Butler') fan.

I had always wanted to take on a popular anime/manga franchise. I was also very curious about Kuroshitsuji since I kept seeing a lot of cosplayers for it. I think I'm on my way to becoming a big fan of this series since, these days, I've been watching back-to-back episodes of it on Youtube. I'm nearly done with Season 1.

Anyway, here is Claude, serving up Sebastian to his fans. Um... Apologies to Sebastian fans. After seeing the episodes I love him and think he and Claude are the among the sexist things to walk the anime/manga world. But I just haven't been in the mood to draw happy, fun things lately. I also thought the idea of serving up a beloved, favorite character in the most obscene way possible was...intriguing.

I don't know anything about Kuroshitsuji, but I know this artwork is incredible. I especially love the opposing color spatters bleeding and separating from the checkerboard, and the black roses which give a stark sense of pleasure to the helping. I love how the butler's face pops out from his two dimensional body. Your plays with dimensions, opposition, patterns and chaos are incredible.

Aaaah, I feel so bad for not having the time to look at your dA profile....Because I always end up missing the new amazing art you come up with!!
I feel like you are one of those amazing artist that always get closer to perfection at every piece they do. From the expressions to the color scheme or from the use of pattern to the composition.....its always super gorgeous

This looks a bit over done, the coloring is a little too heavy on the flesh, the lips have been given a bit too much definition and there is much too much glare on Claude's nose.

Thanks for your opinion. If it looks a bit over done, that is because it's heavily inspired by the Dadaist style and tattoos, both of which includes layers of textures and colors as part of their aesthetics.

Decisions of the flesh color, lips, and highlights, are artistic choices I've intentionally made, much like Matisse chose certain colors and highlights in his own works. Not everyone will agree with his aesthetic-oriented decisions and I don't expect everyone to agree with mines. Still, thank you for taking the time to see this work and offer your own opinion on it.

Ah I see, it is very nice otherwise and the thing I enjoy the most is the background and the idea of Claude serving Sebastian's head on a silver platter. Very well done in every aspect.

Boy do I love me some KuroGuro... This is beautiful! I love how the busy background doesn't take away from the picture at all! And the colors are amazing. loveloveloveLOVE. I'm a huge fan of both butlers, and this is an absolute treat for the eyes! +FAV

Wow, thank you for sharing this comment. Seriously, not many people realize the amount of thought I put into designing something. I mean, there comes a point when backgrounds, especially busy ones, can becoming distracting and too much. There has to be a type of balance between simple/clean and buziness. That's pretty much what I've been exploring lately in my work.

Heh, I'm glad you're digging this piece. As someone who is a newbie fan of this series, I hope veteran fans will embrace my own interpetation of their beloved characters. Thus, it makes me extremely excited to read fans' responses, especially comments like yours. So thanks.

You are most welcome! I know how tedious it can be to balance the background (especially such a busy one!) and the focus of the picture!

As a veteran fan, I ADORE this picture. It really illustrates how Claude's voraciousness can make him a bit twisted. I also like the thought of, as you had put it, a beloved character displayed in the most obscene way possible- like Goofy savagely devouring Mickey Mouse and so forth. I love this concept! (>o_o)> and I LOVE this picture!

yaaaay! Now this just makes me even happier! I'm always trying to push my art into being open to anyone. I think the most challenging thing about fanart is making those who don't what it's about, or those who may not like it, still appreciate the art itself.
