"Who says werevolves are the only ones that can hunt as a pack? Bring that torch forward Herb, ain't got no use of it on our tail!"To their dismay the distant howls drew closer and even a fool could tell that they were facing more than just one... It did not take too long before hunters became hunted.

Took longer than id expect.. 8-9 hours this afternoon... :v but well, it was fun to make!

As they continued their march for prey they witnessed more and more evidence of presence of dreaded beasts. Creatures became bolder with every moment, closing on them, emerging from the shadows. Growls reached the ears of hunters, shuffle of wings could be heard dangerously close, draft of air caressing their coats. As uneasiness grew stronger among them the trap has sprung. Having their way out cut off they prepared for the fight of their lives, light of the torch slowly dying, counting down their time as those among the living. With the last spark flying away and dying in cold night's air a wild howl marked the beginning of the assault.
Gahhhh! You have killed me with that picture! It is so perfect! And sorry for interfering with your story, it doesn't fit so well and I would like to write it better, but I just couldn't resist. The ponies look so good, the shading so well executed, but you got me used to that already. But the colours, told you you have to do it more often! Their expressions, determined, focused, searching for any signs of their prey...or hunters. Not wanting to show any signs of fear, but that primal fear of the dark making its way to their faces. Weapons so good, the scythe, the spear, the sword, battle hammer, the trident. But the torch, its fire hypnotizing. Just how?! Trees are as always great, but with those colours, with those single leaves, with the light from the fire...amazing! Te mist just above the ground adding to the cold feel of the night, blurring the terrain and making it harder for them to walk. And the way the light from the torch touches the ponies, shading their opposite sides...you are so good at shading it almost hurts me. And I do love how every pony looks individual, not only because of their coats.
But the far background, that sinister moon, clouds covering its light creating perfect setting for such scene. Rocky mountains marking the passage as well as the place where trap takes its beginning. The werewolf bearing wings, how awesome is that?! It feels like they have never met pegasi before and after that encounter they will be ever so more hostile towards winged creatures...if they survive that is. The werewolf looks so badass out there, unseen and yet in plain view, calling his comrades into positions with a piercing howl.
Ravens...I like ravens a lot and once I saw them I couldn't think of this scene without them. Such a perfect touch!

And yet, after a battle that would scar even the staunchest paladins, the ponies prevailed.

Hey! No worries with that, frankly the story fits just right.
Colorizing this was largerly experimental as I'm trying to find a way to go about it... As usual, I made pre-sketch on paper which I scanned and used to give the ponies a little better texture. (Can see that in my scraps of you feel like)
Always enjoyed making the expressions... especially with eyes, but I have lot to still clarify to myself in this topic. The lighting in this was quite odd idea, having two light sources of different color proven difficult to execute correctly. (which isnt the case here) Kinda to keep the ponies village-themed thus not giving them much equipment and the fact one mare has a sword seemed intersting to me since swords were not any cheap in those time and I thought it might make her stand out a little.
The thing about background almost rekt me... I've spent hours recoloring, rearranging the bloody thing to at least fit a bit. I dare to say I learned few new things about digital in this one and continue to observe few artists I really admire and to learn something more.
Werewolf over there was actually brought to me by my friend while I streamed to him and it wasnt a bad idea at all...
