The assault ship is another of Ethera's Space navy ship designs, the main role of this ship is to transport troops and equipments for a small army.The ship is able to carry 2000 soldiers, 200 tanks, 25 mechs, 10 dropships, and 20 fighters for self defence, the ship has 4 unloading bays and two landing strips.
All of it's weapons systems are for defence, the Assault ship isn't designed for any sort of combat, it's equiped with 5 400mm railcannons, and various point defence turrets with 3 railguns each.
The ship can also land on a planet's surface, unload all of it's units and them takeoff, or it can be used as a mobile base of operations.
Ethera's Space Navy has 5 of these ships.

if its made to carry troops and stuff, shouldn't it be called a drop ship or a transrport ship?

It's to big to be a drop ship, and it's made for assaults on planets, since it can land in the battle front to deliver the troops, the drop ship is that thing that don't look like a tank or a mech hahaha.
