Description Welp, this is another first for me. This is the first picture that I've made on my computer without using anyone else's stock or other materials, so I hope you all enjoy it. I've already had several people give me ideas for improvement so I'll be uploading an improved version later. In the meantime keep the advice coming.

The snake and the girl?

Well I figured I'd come up with my own OC's for a change as well so that I completely own everything (FINALLY I DON'T HAVE TO STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS). I've pretty much got their personalities and abilities figured out, but I;m not so good with names, so they'll go unnamed for now (unless someone has any good suggestions)

The snake is essentially a descendant of the same kind of snakes as Kaa ( the hypnotic kind I mean, not the rock-python kind) and his abilities have adapted to be stronger and much more versatile than his ancestors. His coloured markings on his back and the tip of his tail have a natural bio-luminescence that can be hypnotic enough to be tough to look away from, and the lines on his underbelly are similarly capable. Combining them with movement allows him to induct prey into a trance, though only a weak one. He's also capable of certain levels of auditory hypnosis that can allow him to lull prey into a stupor and bring their guard down, though it is not enough to put most people in a trance on it's own it can cause severe disorientation, drowsiness, or compulsion for obedience. Finally he has the classic eyes that can be combined with many of his new tricks along with his species' old one's like weaving from side to side to tire out a victim, or making them vulnerable to being sung into a trance and taken for a sleepwalk.

Personality wise he can be quite cruel to his victims if the mood strikes him. His area of the jungle is rich with plenty of prey sources, so he's never hurting for a meal. He mostly hunts for enjoyment, taking considerable time to tease his victims by letting them become aware of their predicament after he's caught them. That said he takes pride in his prey enjoying itself too. Since happy prey is easy prey it has become a cultural issue among his kind to make sure that they can keep whomever their eating happy. Because of this his favorite ways of teasing prey are often finding ways of making them content with the situation. On more than one occasion he's convinced the odd monkey or panther to give themselves up after they've escaped from a trance, just to so that they could have a few more minutes of that kind of bliss.

That leads us to the jungle girl. Her parents were relatively hard-done by people from the United States who moved to a small village in India where with even their meager ties to outside world they were able to become relatively wealth landowners. However they needed an eldest son as their first born to carry on their legacy and care for them as they aged, and her being born messed with that, so she was 'disposed of' in the most humane way such inhumane people could manage. After a younger brother had been born (they at least kept her around in-case they couldn't have another child) they took the then 5 year-old girl out on a hiking trip from which she never returned. 17 years later she still has no idea what became of her parents, though she remembers her time with man-kind as one of suffering that she was released from when a panther mother who had recently lost her cub to poachers found her after her birth-parents had abandoned her. At first the panther had thought to simply kill the child, if only to keep another poacher from the world, but she was unable to bring herself to do it, and she decided to take on the role of the child's mother, if only to keep her from becoming dangerous she told herself.

Now 22 she takes every method to avoid her fellow man whenever possible, having heard nothing redeeming about them and being referred to as the only good human to ever step foot in the jungle by the local animals she had grown to know. Despite being shy in social circumstances she is known as a fierce and cunning predator by many. Due to her relatively small size she has had to make up with ferocity to win her battles, not all of which she has escaped un-scarred. Many prey animals she has hunted have as well as competitive predators have learned the best way to deal with her is often to get her talking and get her flustered so that they can distract her and escape.

She does have a few personality quirks, for instance the closest thing she had to a positive memory of the human world was a strangely pleasant feeling she got from watching the Kaa scenes from the Jungle Book, though she only attributed them to how the jungle became her home. Despite not understanding why she enjoys the feeling of snake skin when her viper friends wrap around her arm, though she always wishes they could wrap her up just a little more than their capable of...

Now with a sound reputation she has moved from her home with her panther mother due to scarcity of potential prey and a desire to not have to compete with the one who raised her. Now she has moved to a new part of the jungle that is rich with prey and mostly devoid of competition.

Due to her moving she has inadvertently wandered into the territory of the snake in the picture, who has just the skills necessary to take full advantage of her quirk. A quirk which the 'happy prey makes easy prey' mantra places her high on his dinner menu. Due to his silver-tongue and many abilities he's fully capable of keeping her from flat-out attacking on her, while also capable of finding new ways to trick her into an all to pleasant situation, and she's far too stubborn to leave a good spot now that she's found it, and she's resourceful enough to get away from any dumb snake. Their personalities ensure they may be at this for a very long time.

I have and I've got a LOT planned out, it's just a matter of getting myself to do it. I've been having some self worth issues lately.

I asked you those questions before I saw this. I have to say the drawing and the redo are done well. I hope you provide more drawings of Sarrl and his other victims.

Obviously this unnamed snake is now known as Sarrl. I love the information you gave regarding his powers and personality. His prey could get triple hypnotized? What made you decide on that name?

I guessed based on the girl's backstory and description she is not Julie. I later saw you decided to name her Krista. You mentioned you had a lot of story ideas you want to write. Is this one of them?

I think this could be an awesome story. The two of them would basically be rivals and have many encounters? I would really love to read that. Not to mention I would like to know how she would escape from him.

I decided on the name Sarrl because I wanted a good name with an 'S' sound that could be hissed out. Nothing else seemed to work to me for him.

This is one of the story ideas I have for them yes. It's a little ways away before I write it out though. Before then I want to write the story for this image:Β ragnarok222.deviantart.com/art… which started off as part of a comic, but due to the slow speed I draw I've decided to just write out. I think people would enjoy it more that way anyway.

Oh I think they'll make a few more appearances. I can't attest to the quality though. We'll see how it ends up.
