Description
Shot Taken: March 13, 2009.Yeah so i forgot to upload it then...
Official Cutline: Iraqi children cheer, smile, give the "thumbs-up" sign and shake hands with Staff Sgt. Jorge Cornejo of Brentwood, N.Y., Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, as they wait behind school gates for their turn to receive free clothes and toys at a humanitarian aid event in Arab Jabour, March 13. The aid was collected at the thrift store in Baumholder, Germany, by U.S. Army family members and shipped to Iraq.
My Description: Yeah ok, so it's not prison bars
The gates are the gates to the school in the village where these kids live. They kept them back there and let out the faimlies and their children out one at a time for fear of being mobbed I guess. In Iraq shoes are a priceless commodity for the families in poor areas like this one.
The kids loved it though. You could tell they were excited. I don't know what their exact opinions of us were...but I like to think that they were glad we were there. I think them cheering at me and throwing out the thumbs up at the camera was the best moment I had that day, it makes my job that much more fun.
I wish the color in this wasn't so weird but most shots from downrange tend to turn out a bit dust-colored.
