Description I should have been asleep hours ago......but hey when inspiration calls~

I felt like doing some hand practice...mainly because of *Kawano-Chihiko ... everytime she visits I love seeing how she takes my drawings and make the hands look so elegant and refined so I attempted it myself. No references used at all, cept for the two on the bottom right side. *looked at her own hands*

Ya know...the sad part about this is that at least 85% of the actual ARTISTS on this site don't ever do random anatomy practice. If I feel up to it I might try doing feet or hm....legs in general yeah....I need practice on legs.

EDIT: hm....799 faves.......thats a hell of a lot for my 20 min doodles. Ummmm *sigh* please don't bitch at me for the DTF....its a waste of everyone's time and its really not gonna go away because your angry about it. And yes...I'm also confused why my crappy sketches got more attention than half the detaily stuff in my gallery that I kill myself, my computer and my art supplies over.

And for crits, I'm gonna be honest...I'm not gonna listen to what anyone has to say about this cept for *Kawano-Chihiko since I'm learning from HER....noone else.

:3 THANK YOU FOR THE FAVES~ I'll post something thats actually worth it soon.

That's a little presumptuous. I don't know a single artist who takes themselves even remotely seriously who doesn't practice anatomy. "Anime" artists included.

Anyway, I like the efforts at capturing tenseness of the fingers in several of these sketches, and I like the graceful lines and pose of the one at the bottom left. Nice work!

and see most of the serious artists I know...as serious as they claim to be don't even study anatomy randomly on their own unless they're in school or someone tells them to do so.

Hands are one of the hardest things to draw- you did good;Nicely done. Are you going to shade them in too?

nope not at all XD I shade when I color

Hands for me are pretty easy. The only problem I encounter is when it's an odd position...I don't know if it's because I'm left handed or what (I draw with my left, hold the picture down with my right, otherwise it slides) but I have a hard time using my own hand as a model while I draw. Feet are my problem I can never get the front view right.

Anyway, nice hands. Random anatomy practice is always good

here's a fact for you :3 left handed people are often seen as better artists...I think its because you have to think with the creative side of your brain...and right handed people usually think on the mathmatical side *can't remember* XD;;

bishielurfer In reply to raila [2008-03-01 17:36:22 +0000 UTC]

=3 It's true that generally speaking, left-handers think with the right side of their brain, which controls intuition, emotions and attitudes, visual and space relationships, music, rhythm, dance, and all that jazz; while right-handers usually think with the left side which controls memory, language, logic, computation, classification, writing, analysis, and things like that. But that's not always true, and some people actually have the hemispheres reversed XP I'm pretty balanced when it comes to the two.
On another note, white boards were not designed for left-handed people. They're evil >>

Andantonius In reply to raila [2008-03-01 06:59:10 +0000 UTC]

True, but that also doesn't mean if you're right-handed you can't be as good as a left-handed person. Most of your art skill comes from practice, not heredity.

My mom got me this Artist Model doll. So far, it's helped me improve with my anatomy (don't bother looking at my gallery, that was pre-Artist Model work). I've thinking of doing things like this as well. Probably perspectives would be the way to go for me.

This hand study though would be useful for me since I am admittingly poor with hands.

well out of the like 20 artist friends I have only 2 or 3 actually practice anatomy....with anime artists its even rarer because they think its "useless"

I remember doing some practice sketches on my own by some shape even tempting some hand practice. All I over did was too much drawing heads and need more on the rest of the body.

Your pretty good at showing people some of your warmups.

those are awsome. and i practice hands i just don't think there's any reason to post them.

raila In reply to SlinkiiSnake [2008-03-01 05:35:49 +0000 UTC]

well a good reason to post them is so that people can tell you where you make mistakes and how to improve on them.

well if your too lazy to improve then theres no reason for me to look at your gallery. Thanks for saving me the time annnnnd I'm glad you like my quote :3 I found it hilarious at the time.

raila In reply to SlinkiiSnake [2008-03-01 07:22:58 +0000 UTC]

Fact of life...everyone pisses someone off at least once. The sooner to learn this the longer life you'll live. I would love to look at your gallery and give you advice but you said you don't try to improve, so if I gave you advice you wouldn't take it anyway. Thus, a waste of time.

SlinkiiSnake In reply to raila [2008-03-01 19:57:31 +0000 UTC]

if it's a passion i'll try to improve it. and if it's not a passion, like math or anything that u have to think with the left side of ur brain i would just give up, because i'm not smart. vise versa, art is my passion. if art wasn't my passion i wouldn't be part of this website. and i've been pissed off plenty of times, i just keep it locked up inside. i know that's not very healthy, but no one listens to children.

Love hand drawings. I find hands beautiful.

Only thing is, I would have liked to seen more knuckle, or at least knuckle shadows. People always forget the knuckles. Can't we all just get along?

My anatomy problem? Shoulder blades. Can never draw those suckers right.

raila In reply to Andre-chan [2008-03-01 05:34:42 +0000 UTC]

XD I was actually thinking girly anime hands as I drew this so knuckles usually aren't shown as much......then 2/3 of anime artists don't do this sorta stuff anyway...hm
