Confession: Whenever I hear 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight', all I can think about is Dislestia.Stealing through the night's uncertainty, love is where they are...
This is pretty old now, and to be honest I don't love the Lion King, but I still like this and wanted to post something Dislestia-ish. By the way, have a weird younger Discord design by me. I kind of like to imagine that he kept his mane long and flowy... haha.

You know, this actually makes me wonder about Discord’s history. He’s referred to as “The Spirit of Chaos”, but was that title made up? Or did he somehow inherit it? Or was it changed from something else?

Yeah, I often wonder about that as well. Discord is a very mysterious individual; we really know nothing about his history except his run-in with the Princesses, and for him being so powerful, well...really makes you wonder about a lot of things. I love theorizing about him.

I think that’s probably one of most, if not the most, intriguing thing about Discord’s character. How we can know him so well, yet at the same time know nothing about him. And they do give us a few hints and clues to go on. Like how when he’s first introduced they refer to him as a “draconequus” which makes us wonder about his species. Or the infamous line: “I’ve never really had a friend before.” gives us a new perception on his character.
With hero characters they’re usually: “good for the sake of being good”. But villains can have various reasons for being bad, which is what makes them so interesting.

Yes, I'm really curious as to whether there are others of his species, or if he is the only one. I kind of have a theory that he comes from the same land/country that Tirek comes from, but just really has grown a liking to Equestria, since is so different/seems out of place there.
And I agree with that as well! I am a major misunderstood-baddie fangirl <3 Most of my favorite characters fall under that category, haha xD
I kind of would really love to see them explore Discord's history, but at the same time I don't want them to because it's so fun to speculate and for everyone to have their own theories.

Well it was stated in the show that Celestia and Luna “chased” Discord to Equestria. And as for originating from Tirek’s homeland that actually makes a whole lot of sense. Even the comics seem to support the idea. It would also explain how Discord and Tirek know each other. I never thought of that before, thanks for the new headcanon! 
Yeah, I’m torn between wanted to know everything about Discord, or leaving his origins unknown and open to interpretation, speculation, and theorizing to.

For a long time a lot of fans liked the idea that there was “something” between Discord and Celestia. But with the line “I’ve never really had a friend before.” I’m pretty sure that killed an awful lot of headcanons.
While I don’t think that Celestia was ever previously attracted to or interested in Discord (mainly because he was a villain), I do like to think that she never really considered him to be all that bad and tried to reason with him first. I mean, I’m pretty sure it was HER idea to reform him in the first place after all.
As for Discord? I could see him having a crush on or being attracted to or interested in Celestia. Past, present or future. He does seem to enjoy teasing her which, given his childish attitude, could be considered a form of flirting. Not quite the same way with Twilight, but you get the idea.
The banter between them in the season two premiere was also very insightful and interesting. Like two old exes who had a rough break-up.

Well, to be honest, I still support the idea that there was something between them pfff haha. I've been a diehard Celesticord shipper since 2012 xD And I tend to think that perhaps they either had a toxic sort of romance going on (a sort of relationship where they weren't really 'friends', but were enemies and kind of hung out together and were dating for a short while without realizing it, if that makes any sense), Discord's memory of them together was damaged/erased somehow (a bit of a stretch, but I find it plausible considering the vast menagerie of magical things in their world), oooor that they simply had a romance that eventually ended in their becoming enemies.
Think of it, if you dated someone for a while, then became brutal enemies with them, aaaand then on top of everything they imprisoned you for a thousand years in solitary confinement...would you be apt to ever think of them as a friend again? Probably not. I'd daresay his memory of their romance/friendship would be so clouded that he would stubbornly deny that it happened at all. Celestia probably regrets how things happened, though, and wishes that she'd been more understanding...hence her wanting of Discord to be reformed, because she knows that he has some good inside of him; she'd seen it firsthand (or hoof?).

Well, I just try to keep my headcanons as realistic and show accurate as possible.
Though the idea that Discord has some sort of magical “amnesia” has always been an interesting and plausible concept to me.
It also works well with Celestia’s character, since she’s probably use to keeping secrets and hiding her emotions anyways. I’d imagine she’d want to leave whatever kind of “relationship” they had in the past, and simply work on being friends for now.
In fact, before “Keep Calm and Flutter On”, I read a few stories about Celestia wanting to reform Discord for various reasons.

That’s cool. And at least your headcanons still somewhat work within the continuity of the show itself. Or least they can’t be completely disproven or ruled out.
Although I love Dislestia, I would still be just as satisfied with them interacting more with each other in the show, even if it’s just platonic. I just think they have and could have some really great chemistry.

I think so, too. I hope that there is an episode in the near future where they have more screentime together. Make New Friends But Keep Discord had a little shiptease for them, but they didn't really interact. :/
