"Shh....It's just me"

You blinked away remaining tears, your {e/c} eyes going wide at the sight of your friend,Trent, kneeling in front of you with a worried expression. He finally pulled his hand away from your mouth and you blinked out of confusion. "Trent? What....what are you doing here?"you asked him in a shaky voice, slowly standing up from where you sat. Trent's expression was sheepish, his bright green eyes staring silently into yours. "Well, the last time I saw you today you were on the brink of crying"his eyebrows furrowed a little and you looked away, facing the wall.

You knew he was concerned but really did not want to explain what had happened at school. It was just a dreadful reminder....

"{Y/n}?"he leaned in and had that same worried expression that he had when he saw you outside of the school. "Please, tell me what happened"he reached a hand to touch your arm but you shook your head. "Don't..."you muttered and he sighed in aggravation, moving away from you. "Why do you do that?" You looked over at him and rubbed at your arm, biting the inside of your cheek. "Do what...?" Trent quickly ran a hand through his dark brown locks and shook his head from side to side before taking a slow breath. "You always"he paused, trying to say it in the gentlest way possible. "Distance yourself away from people"he finally replied. You stiffened and rubbed at your eyes"That's not true....", you muttered. He was about to speak again but then you both heard the sound of your Aunt's piercing voice. "{Y/N}~!! I'm going to go out with a few of my friends, I'll be back--! Well, whenever! Toodaloo~!!"the sound of the front door slamming shut echoed up the stairs.

You exhaled with a relieved look"Thank God....".

Trent chuckled under his breath at that before getting up, dusting off his jeans. "Welp, this is our cue to leave". You blinked and looked over at him"Wai--what?"Before you knew it, you were being lifted onto his shoulders, a surprised yelp escaping you. "Trent, what the heck are you doing? Put me down!"you kicked a few times but he only hummed under his breath, heading down the steps and before passing the kitchen. His green eyes went wide"The hell? What happened?". You rolled your eyes slightly"Aunt Maci had another fit..."You shrugged and glanced over your shoulder"I'll clean it up later...."You added, totally oblivious to the fact that he was walking out of the front door with you still over his shoulder. By the time he had unlocked his car, you were placed in the passenger seat with almost unamused expression. You had known him for a long time and knew that he was probably the most spontaneous person you'd ever met. "While this is fresh in my mind, how did you get in my room?"you questioned him. Trent snorted, putting his key in the ignition.

"I saw your window was open a crack so I, Well, climbed through it"he answered nonchalantly. "I was worried about you".

Yep, he was spontaneous to the fullest. "That's just..creepy"you told him with a small smile. Trent stuck his tongue out at you which made your smile grow a little. He seemed to be the only person who could really make you...smile. Your {e/c} eyes stared out of the car window as you got lost in your thoughts more. The area you lived at was surrounded by trees, so the woods was a place that you were used to. The green pines and oaks rushed by in a fast blur.

Trent looked over at you and took one hand off the wheel so he could rub at your shoulder comfortingly. "Hey, you alright?". Your thought came to a stop and you jumped a bit at the soft touch, slowly moving your shoulder away from his grasp. "I'm fine....". He nodded but was skeptical of your words, making another attempt to comfort you but you moved away again. Trent let out a loud grunt which made you jump again. "Quit doing that! I am your best friend, so quit acting like I'm going to hurt you!!"he shouted. Your lips parted a bit and you closed your eyes, trying to take calm breaths. When he realized that he'd shouted, he bit his bottom lip and sighed lowly. "Geez, {Y/n} I'm sorry"he apologized but you only rubbed at your eyes. Why did it seem like everyone single person you knew was angry at you?

"Why....why did you yell...I.."you gripped onto your arm. "I didn't...do a,anything wrong..."you whispered.

Trent saw your expression and shook his head again. God, he was an idiot sometimes. He took a deep breath"I don't know"he gritted his teeth a little. "It's just...sometimes you make me so frustrated"he mused. You sank low in the seat. "Where are you taking me...?" He glanced your way"My place? By the looks of the kitchen in your house, i'm guessing you didn't have a decent meal. While you eat, you can tell me what happened at school"he noted. You angrily pursed your lips"I don't wan't to talk about it....". He rolled his eyes"Yeah yeah, you're still going to tell me though"he mumbled, making a U-turn.

"Would you just stop already?"Your hands gripped at your arms more.

"Why should I? You havn't told me anything, I'm sick of it!"he yelled, taking his eyes off the road. "Well, i'm sick of you forcing me to tell you something I don't want to talk about!" "If you talk about it you'll feel better!" "No, I won't, I'll just feel worse!" "How do you know for sure!?" "I just do!" He covered his face with one hand" God, why are you so stubborn!?"he shouted. Just then, you saw the headlights of another car from his side of the window and felt as your stomach dropped to the floor. "TRENT!"Your hands lurched for the steering wheel, causing the car to make a sharp turn into the woods, missing the other vehicle by just a hair.

In a split second, he covered your body with his as best as he could before the car smashed into a tree....

Three figures appeared behind the other trees soon after. One was incredibly tall and stood there with eerie silence. The other was impossibly pale and seemed to be observing the car from a far distance with it's permanent smile. The third figure though seemed to be frowning, his face showing one of particular sadness and misery.

His cap lowered on his head a bit as he stared at a girl through a shattered window, his dark red eyes flooding with a hidden emotion.
