I love the city and the model (wish I looked as good in a gold thong, lol) but something about the sky really bugs me...not sure why though. Hmmm.

i didn't know what to do with it at first but i kept rotating the y-axis and then a ledge appeared and that's when inspiration struck

i'm still not able to get a good render. firefly barfs when i put together a scene with enough stuff in it to make it look good (only about 6 lights but half must use ray traced shadows) i'm moving to my 64 bit machine to see if it works better. maybe i'll try it in vue.

i'd suggest rendering it in vue as opposed to poser - i like how the textures come out in vue compared to poser

poser just locked up again, time to import into vue...

it crashed vue as well. i was using a 4x4 block. time to bring it down to a 1x1. ran it out of resources. i need a 64 bit operating system (or more wisdom, whichever... )

bugger! how big is your HD? i thought mine is smaller than the rest of you guys but i seem to be able to pull off bigger scenes. don't get me wrong, there are some that vue would just simply say "nuh-uhh" but for the most part it handles it alright.

2x250GB in a raid-1 configuration. i suspect i have a bad model since it ate up both rendering engines.

you do have a bigger HD than i...too many programs running at the same time perhaps?

i suspect lack of skill on my part. a good artist never blames their tools
i'm trying to re-render several poser pieces to see if i can get the hang of textures and lighting in vue. so far i have a long way to go. the vue poser importer does not bring procedural textures in intact.

RainfeatherPearl In reply to unreal-blue [2006-11-27 07:31:30 +0000 UTC]
well, i always had to modify it in the material room once i import it to vue. hopefully vue6 addressed that issue.

unreal-blue In reply to RainfeatherPearl [2006-11-27 15:47:33 +0000 UTC]
i've been shying away from the material room. i'm used to dealing with materials by connecting nodes; i have to figure out vue's - less intuitive (to me)

RainfeatherPearl In reply to unreal-blue [2006-11-27 17:38:09 +0000 UTC]
i think vue is a little more straight forward than playing with nodes actually. lol, i shy away from poser's material room but got the hang of vue's in no time at all.

Even from this shot you can read the chaos in the city.
Reminds me of the City in Harlan Ellisonβs "Repent Harlequin Said the Tick Tock Man", or a dismally gray version of Brazil (my God, I'm getting old).
The anti-hero stands above the city plotting some real deviltry for the man.
Or maybe not.
She's a neighborhood hot girl with small clothes on so who cares about the story. Make more purtee pictures.

Right. Left my copy in New Orleans. Feh! It was a VHS anyway. Hmm, wonder if I can find a copy on Amazon. Ah well, I'll have to watch some other unrealistic allegory of modern society and man fighting the system. 8mile.

Right. I've been trying to find Hardware (that Ian McDermott flick from the late 80s). Apparently you can only find that on cave walls scribbled in ancient Crayola! Sad really, how the new technology makes you feel so behind the times.
Anyway, back to my primitive pencils
Everywhere I go; thereβs always something to remind me; of another place in timeβ¦
