Description
BITCHES LEAVE!A micro done after being inspired by Kurtwood Smith's character in the 1987 Paul Verhoven film, Robocop. Robocop is one of my favorite movies and I have seen the movie early in my childhood and loved the series for it's storyline, gritty atmosphere, and mostly it's characters. Robocop is truly an 80s classic film not to be missed.
Well give the man a hand!
I've really wanted to do another Micro-Hero (or in this case, Micro-Villain) for quite a while now and I have been experiencing trouble with my GIMP program in turning these Microes into transparent ones but this didn't discourage me from making another character. And I have been something on of a Robocop kick and while I did want to try my hand at Robocop, someone had already beaten me to it. So instead I opted to do one of the main antagonists, namely Clarence Boddicker. I already had a number of templates and bases to work with for Boddicker, so it was a matter of getting his likeness and the color of his clothing down, namely in the Drug Factory Shootout scene. I would like to think I got the likeness down.
I WORK FOR DICK JONES! DICK JONES!
A murderous, weasely criminal with a snidy, nasal voice, an utter disregard for life and a particular hatred for the police, Clarence J. Boddicker is the guy in Old Detroit. He has assembled a capable bunch of thugs for protection and enforcement and has allied himself firmly with many powerful people, including a certain number two guy at OCP. If you need to get hold of something, if you need something taken care of, or if you need something shifted, Clarence is your man. Just make sure your will's up to date before you make the call.
Just gimme my fuckin' phone call.
I think Clarence Boddicker is quite a memorable villain, if not under-rated. He's pretty sadistic and he also likes to cause pain and suffering as well, even going as far as to participating in the painful, violent and agonizing death of Alex J. Murphy prior to Murphy's becoming Robocop. He's also a pretty slick businessman as far as drug deals go.
Bye bye, baby.
He maybe no Joker, he maybe no Green Goblin, and he maybe definitely no Lex Luthor. Clarence is a villain who is never the less memorable and deserves some recognition in the world of Pop-Culture and Geek Fandom. Here's a couple videos to show why:

What I love about Clarence is that he looks like an average Joe. He's also probably the only movie villain I know of that uses glasses.

His physique is more memorable.
When i first saw him i thought "he seems like the guy next door, like a family man, like a bookworm, a doctor, a banker maybe".....
Before him, I thought that the villains had to be always muscular!
This guy seemed like a nerd, in the beginning!
It took only 5 minutes to change my opinion!

Yeah, Boddicker is pretty memorable but for me I think what makes him memorable was the fact that the guy was simply a snarky asshole who was known to kill people, rather brutally as in the case of Officer Alex Murphy. Plus his one liners are memorable too!

And to Parody it, "Can you fly, Eric?..."

So, what are your thoughts on the Robocop remake that's in the works?

Honestly, I think Hollywood has run out of ideas. Really, there are way too many sequels, reboots and remakes already being pumped out. Case in point, the Total Recall remake. Robocop is just one of those movies that... doesn't need a remake. It's an 80s classic.

I think it's not lack of ideas, necessarily. It's just reboots, remakes, and sequels are the moneymakers right now. Same with superhero movies.

I haven't seen the new "Total Recall," but it does seem like a good example of a pointless remake. If it were a more faithful adaptation of the original story, then that's fine, but it looks just like an update of the Schwarzenegger film. On the other hand, I admit to be kind of interested in a new "Robocop." Of course, we don't really need a new one, and I've no idea if it'll be any good, but I like to think it will at least be better than the sequels to the original.

Well from what I have seen they already released what ED-209 looks like on the viral site for OmniCorp, the new OCP in the remake, and I am not sure how I feel about it. It looks like one of the mechs from the old 90s PC game, Battle Mech. It doesn't look like ED-209 anymore. And there are rumors of a script leak.. and they ain't good rumors either, changing Detroit to Los Angeles, ED-209 being an alien in a mech suit, and Robocop being engineered from this alien tech too.
Also, concerning the role of Clarence Boddicker, I heard that Jack Earle Haley landed the role. I've only seen him play Rorschach in the Watchman film, didn't see him as Freddy Krueger in the remake. But to me, Kurtwood Smith is definitively Clarence Boddicker.
As for it being better than the sequels to the original-- I don't think Robocop 2 was all that bad. If anything, I think it's under-rated. Robocop 3 on the other hand... the less said, the better. The television series was okay though, and Prime Directives was interesting to say the least.

My opinion isn't worth much anyway. I'm the sort of person who thought the Catwoman movie might still be good in spite of all the changes they made to the character. To be honest, I don't remember the Robocop sequels that well, though I did enjoy the miniseries. I guess I'll hope for the best, but brace myself for the worst.
