Description

It has been something of a long time since I have done a Microhero character, and with the success of the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, I've seen a lot of people create their own Spidersonas... or Spider-Persona. Whatever you want to call them. So when my friend hayley566 decided to do a series of Spider-People, she had asked me if I had a Spider-Persona of my own and I said that I didn't but it would be interesting to see what I could come up with. So, we came up with a design together drawing inspiration from Scarlet Spider, Agent Venom and to some degree-- even Spider-Gwen herself. And a little over a year ago, this Spider-Persona came to be.

Anyway... this character is my own take of a Spider-Persona and his name is Shadow Arachnid. I conceived him to be something of a stealth fighter, mostly operating at night-- hence the dark clothing though the white Venom spider might make him stand out a little bit. His current powers to date are the usual Spider-Man type powers, although he has some abilities which Peter Parker doesn't have... His abilities are Super Strength, Enhanced Speed, Enhanced Agility, Wall-Crawling, Organic Webbing, Night-Vision, Spider-Sense and even forearm stingers which pack some venom to paralyze his enemies with. As far as skills are concerned, prior to his acquisition of Spider powers, he is a trained martial artist in the style of Tang Soo Do, and has reached black belt level. He doesn't have an official backstory as of yet-- however, I am contemplating tying it somehow to the Mutagen ooze from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his city is of course Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Creating this Microhero was a bit of a challenge and I am not so sure if I am happy with it. I think this is one of those designs which just... DOESN'T translate very well when being converted to a pixelated form. You might not be able to tell but he is supposed to be wearing a hoodie jacket, hence the white elastic at the bottom. I am pleased with how the hands came out though, since his gloves are supposed to have finger fingers and even have the white markings on the back of the hands ala Venom. I think he might've looked better with the hood up, where you can see the web design on the interior of said hood but... I just figure I do this with the hood down. But here he is... Shadow Arachnid!
