Description This is a tribute to one of my favorite SciFi Authors Stanislaw Lem and his humoristic "Star Diaries" featuring the space traveller Ijon Tichy.

Here my own little episode: "Intermezzo on planet X"

Log entry from Ijon Tichy: Crashlanded onΒ unknown planet. I should have repaired the hatch as planned in the Jupiter-Docks. Took me two hours to open the hatch by hand. Planet seems to be covered by vegetation, but no intelligent lifeforms detected. Since my ship has been severely damaged, I will have to wait for the rescue team. May take a couple of month. Luckily I am carrying my survival pack ACME-4000 and an antique NASA-swiss knife with me.

Vue 10 Xstream. Ship is originally a Tripod from War of the Worlds, I used some parts of it to put my ship together in LightWave 11.6. Plants from AsileFX. No postwork, just added my signature.

Coming soon...

Thank you so much, RealTimeBrush. I love Science Fiction and surely will continue to polish my skills. This one was an entry for a little SF contest we had in our Facebook Group. Got the second place.

I am hugely fascinated by spacewrecks - all because of this book www.digitalwaterfalls.co.uk/sp…

You have produced a gorgeous example... Very, very well done. Great render!

That's the book that fired my imagination with spacewrecks too bought it back in the 70s its a real classic full of beautiful detailed imagse.

I bought a book (which I still have) by Roger Dean (the designer of the album covers for the band 'Yes' in the 70's) and his brother called 'The flights Of Icarus'... It was a collection of art by the best artists of the era, for books, albums, and so on. There were several pieces that appeared in 'Spacewrecks' - most notably by Angus Mckie media-cache-cd0.pinimg.com/736…

Anyway, I was finally able to track a copy of Stewart Cowley's Terran Trade Authority 'Spacewrecks's book on eBay in the early 2000's

I DO love spacewrecks!

I remember I had an illustrated book as a child with handpainted artwork of science fiction. I think it was focused on ships and one of the images was a space junkyard with a space shuttle. Impressed me a lot. Sadly the book got lost. Thanks for all the nice comments.

You had it! Β  That's from The Terran Trade Authority "Spacewrecks"... Pages 82-83 'The Graveyard of Beta Pavonis"... It's an illustration by the (sadly, late) great Peter Elson.

Here's the illustration secure.flickr.com/photos/erice…

...and Peter Elson's website, run by his sister: www.peterelson.co.uk/

That's the painting that I was talking about! Great that you knew it. And the other link point to the painting of the book of what I was talking. I am so happy to be able to take again a look at these extraordinary artworks. Thank you so much.

I love those Terran Trade Authority books - some great artists created images for them, as well as Peter Elson... Angus McKie, Jim Burns, Tony Roberts, Colin Hay - these were amongst the top artists of the time.

Fantastic stuff!

Indeed very inspiring artworks. I would love to replicate some of the scenes, lighting and texturing in 3D.Β

I very much agree Β  A lot of my inspiration comes from these artists, as well as others like Chris Foss www.chrisfossart.com/
