Original artwork SOLD

The adventurers cautiously explore amongst the ruins. One of them signals that they have found what looks like an underground entrance, but at that moment a sound in the wood startles not just the wildlife...

There is a lot to focus on in this piece. By facing the figures the same way, and by trying to create a flow of lines with the weaponry, I was aiming to pull the viewers eye across the page towards the entrance and wildlife. The low POV hopefully also adds to the tension of the scene.

I love your artwork, it's amazing. Especially the stunning level of detail - I find something new every time I see one of your paintings. And being one of today's top fantasy artists, it's amazing you still find the time to respond to comments.

Does the Purple, Blue, Red, & Gold clothed wizard have a name? I suppose that it doesn't matter, I just really like his outfit.

So many pockets, pouches, bottles, & bags!

{Not so coincidentally, I really like the outfits worn by Mialee & Naull as well that I have seen in other art.}

No, he is not an iconic in that sense, and thus nameless, but glad you like my design for him

Gadgetsmith In reply to RalphHorsley [2009-06-28 21:44:48 +0000 UTC]

You should do a turn-around-thingie with him. You probably don't have time, though.

Have you thought about giving him a name? I could suggest one, just give Me a moment...

...Lottza-Pokkitts?... It may not be imaginitive, but it says something about his character.

Yes, sadly I do lack the time - but like your idea for the name

Gadgetsmith In reply to RalphHorsley [2009-07-01 21:52:21 +0000 UTC]

Time is something I have a lot of. I'm happily homeless, & I drift around the world aimlessly.

A pastor claims that I am wasting My life away & should serve God, and "stopping in to churches without regularity just isn't enough."

As long as you are happy, and are able to explore the world at your leisure, then good on you.

I drew something to represent My current life of exploring the world at My leisure. It won't make much sense unless you read the description. I'd understand it if you were to say you still don't have the time for that sort of thing. It took much longer than I'd expected, but here you are:

I checked out your link. It is great that you mnaaged to express, and explore, yourself through your drawing.

Gadgetsmith In reply to RalphHorsley [2009-07-09 00:25:54 +0000 UTC]

It's rare that I have anything to actually express Myself. I need new words for what I "feel." Like a different word for feeling. I still pretend to, though. I guess I'm still in a denial of sorts.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RalphHorsley In reply to Gadgetsmith [2009-07-13 08:21:21 +0000 UTC]

At least you are expressing yourself, which is great.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gadgetsmith In reply to RalphHorsley [2009-07-14 16:48:11 +0000 UTC]

Do you express yourself through your work, or do you draw simply because you're paid to?

I sincerely hope it isn't the latter. "A candle feeds on itself to light the way for others" is a quote I've never liked for some reason. I still am not 100% sure, but I do have some Idea about it.

The pieces are all commissions, but within that I have scope for expressing my own interpretations, I don't feel hamstrung.

The attention to detail in this is staggering, and the composition and scene is filled to the brim with no wasted space to speak of. So much going on in this, yet not confusing in the slightest. Pure epic fantasy at it's best. A masterpiece, truly a work of art to be proud of
