"Yaah!" - It was clear where the initiative lay in this combat...
I wanted to present two clear strong figures, whose costuming and character were easy to read. To achieve this I adopted a more muted, less saturated, background against which their vibrant colours would stand out. Note how I fade the trailing, distant limbs by also dropping back their saturation. This also helps with the depth, and clarity.

Unless their fighting Elven Rangers... then it can be a toss on who's faster.

D&D can be a bit tricky about combat initiative, unless you roll a 1 or a 20.

Well, can't help but feel sorry for her. All her powers are based on the assumption that she can talk and utter her words of power. But if her breath is knock out of her so sudden and violently, she has little chances of surviving the encounter. Having said that, I have other sentiments on the matter. Take that you arrogant wizards and sorcerers that belittles the efforts off all other weapon wielders for using their brawn instead of their brains!!!. Your strength is always with you no matter if you can talk or not.

btw really great job on the rogue, managed to keep your normal great style while keeping the arena armour and daggers easily recognisable. also u made troll look good. and that in itself is a feat of strength

This is really cool! I love the fighter's weapons, and thanks for the tip on the saturation of the distant limbs

Hey Ralph, did you drop the saturation of the limbs by changing your paint mixture (mixing up a more muted version of those colors) or did you glaze your background paint over the limbs? Just curious about how you approached it.

I would do the first - paint mix, but then if it then needed a further tweak I would probably use a glaze. Indeed that latter is a very usfeul tool to push an element back that has already been painted.
