Take away religion and you'd still have greed, power struggles, corruption, and zealous bigotry, politics. Feuding and ambition is in human nature. Don't be naive, religion isn't solely to blame for wars. If you have this kind of thinking, you are part of the problem.

Not to say, of course, that religion hasn't caused wars, just look at Jihad. All I'm saying is that religion isn't the root cause. Human nature is.

If we got rid of religion World War I and II would still happen. The Bosnian assassins wanted to destroy humans, then Adolf wanted revenge on the Allies for making a mockery of his country. The American Slave War would still have happened, because religion doesn't drive racism, racism drives racism. The Cold War was a petty competition between the Americans and the Russians. The Long War was caused by some Turkish and Czech people disagreeing with the Ottoman Turks taking their land (that is reasonable). I could name many more.

religion has never caused war. Greed, power, resources(or lack their of), are the cause of war. Religion is just a way of exerting influence and control on others. A ralling cry no diffrent then freedom, liberty, justice, or democracy. When a group of people function under the same principles and ideologies, it becomes an echochamber, magnifing that particular idea until it becomes "truth", because their are few alternate voices to lend credence to alternative ideas, something which can be seen even in thisΒ discussion.

I don't care if people have religious beliefs.
I care if those religious beliefs are being imposed in our legislation.Β IF our law is dictated by religion, then oppression is certainly soon to follow.Β I may be an atheist but doesn't mean I don't want you to have the freedom to believe what you want to believe.
I just need to be protected from your religion being imposed on me, especially since in the abrahamic relgions, the infidels must be killed.
