Thanks! ^^ I think it turned out okay. It's a real whopper, so it takes up a lot of space. I hope it doesn't last long.

Thanks! This one's a real whopper - I don't usually go very large or colourful, but I needed something eye-catching for the spring shows.

Yeah, that's what Pepper says, too. It's discouraging when people come to the gallery looking for "larger" work and I don't ahve much to choose from. I think subconsciously, I try to paint small to keep them affordable.

yup.. sometimes it is true.. but well.. in those cases they should ask for a larger piece (commission)
since if u start doing all large, u wont sell so many.. i think that

You're right. When people don't see aht they want, I usually say, "Of course I can paint in any style or size you'd like." Sometimes that works. I'll probably have the Carousel and the Manatees around for a while because they're pretty expensive, but it'll be a pleasant surprise when they go.

Thank you very much! This one's pretty big, so I had the frameshop frame it rather than try myself. I'm hoping it'll be a hit at the spring shows!

Aw, thanks! I decided to have the frame shop frame this one professionally, since it's such a whopper - the only frames I have lying around are pretty old and beat-up.

I wish you could see this one in person - it didn't get much attention on DA, but it's really pretty big and eye-catching. I hope it serves me well as a centerpiece for the spring show season. ^^

I think it will, how could it not?! It probably is ten times better in person, which is truly impressive!

Thank you very much! This one took quite a while, but I'm pretty happy with it - it's a larger work, so I'm having it framed rather than frame it myself...

Sweet! I thought it was actually a photograph when i saw the thumbnail, lol! Then only did i realize this was painted when looked at the larger size... Great work!

Thank you very much! I was kind of proud of this one because it's such a whopper and I usually paint pretty teensy. I'm so glad you like it! ^^

Thank you very much! ^^ I wanted to do something large and colourful, and when one of my students brought me the reference photo, it just seemed perfect.

Thank you so much! I'll probably get around to framing this one today - I needed something big and colourful to draw the crowds at the spring shows. I rarely work this large, and it's nice to have a big eye-catcher.

Beautiful. My great uncle use to own a carousel, it was so difficult to pick out which animal to ride on.

Thank you so much! ^^ I think this particular one only has horses, but I kind of like the ones that have bears and tigers, too. My Saturday student, Stella, was kind enough to bring me the reference - maybe I should ask about other animals and try another one later on.

Yes, ma'am.
I just stuck it up on the easel to take the picture, and didn't notice the little curl. I'll take another shot when it's matted.

oh yer thats a bit of a shame with the curled paper. But it looks excellent. Really great!

An easy problem to fix - I'll just take another shot after it's matted. I'm glad you like it - this one took a while.

Stunning just stunning, how on earth did you do them twirly poles
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RamonaQ In reply to Dabull04 [2009-02-14 21:38:00 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, David! Well, I measured and marked the sides so that the beginning and end of each "twirl" would be in the right place and just added a line, then a glob, then a shadow...
