Description
In my timeline "Filipinas: La Gloriosa y Más Allá", the Japanese government in Tokyo has allowed the (Standard) Okinawan language to be taught in all of state primary schools across the archipelago-prefecture; in fact, the status of Okinawa within the Empire of Japan was actually ambiguous between a typical Japanese prefecture and a colony of Tokyo. If there's a possibility of continuing my TL until contemporary times, with two World Wars like in OTL (with a little tweaking and the like), I sensed that Okinawa prefecture and Amami Islands would be under American protectorate (1945-72), where a government was formed, economy has been flourished and expanded (first, through US military bases, later through tourism from both Yankees and Japanese), and a constitution has been written. In 1972, Hiroshi Shō became the king of the newly-independent State of Ryukyu, which he held until his death in 1996.
For the flag itself, I combined the proposed Okinawan flag and the crest of the historical Ryukyu Kingdom ( Hidari-Mitsu-domoe), with a twist: I replaced white with yellow in the center to match the emblem.
Created and edited in both MS Paint and Photoscape.
