Description The rather vertical shape of trees on Red Earth allows creatures like the towerbeasts to be forest dwellers, feeding on the younger, softer leaves of umbrella trees and their epiphytes and ectoparasites. The group consists of only two members with the chalkface being the larger species, and shares several very unusual traits. Their horizontal jaws close over the lower jaw in a similar fashion to the northern flamindog, but is used as an efficient leaf clipper rather than a filtering mechanism and theirmiddile legs are involved in creating sounds like in brachipharyngates, thought this group drove it further by using both front and middle legs fully for this purpose. This strange combination of traits of unrelated groups could be either convergent evolution or the towerbeasts are a very basal group. In the past plain-dwelling species existed but died out due to competition with alticatoblepids. Despite being semi-social at best, towerbeasts have a very rich arsenal of communicative devices, like their characteristic whistling sounds, colourful eyelids and middle leg undersides.

Do they breath without a nose?

They breath through two pairs of slits on their bodies, one is visible between the front and middle legs, the other in front of the hind legs.

Liking the markings and dewlap, I feel that the front leg stepping forward slightly should have the shoulder joint further back though, more inline with the other one. It gives the impression that the leg starts in a different place to the other one.

The left shoulder joint would be just slightly more forward than the right; it is located in the middle region of the body.

I think my favorite aspect of this species is the detail given to its communications.
