Description The topeka transit center is an intermodal transportation hub for the city of Topeka, Kansas and would serve as a train and bus terminal. The station is concieved as point of overlap in the many transportation networks which it joins and is envisioned as a physical expression of the path and the flow of passengers through its space. The building is shaped to emphasize this flow and express it through the building's surfaces as the building itself is a mechanism to guide and control the flow of activity along these paths.

i particularly like the revealed stripped away perspective of the structure.

holy crap on a stick~
(lol what an analogy)
that is just wow~
I thought this was going to be an actual building~
hell if i was a bazillionare looking to build things i would gladly pay for that!

if this didnt get an A you should sue..
or something~

Those are some very nice renderings, which programs did you use for modeling and rendering?

the whole thing was designed in sketch-up, so the design process really happened through building the 3d model. The renderings were done in Cinema4D.

is it hard to import sketchup models to C4D? and is C4D difficult to texture and set up lightning and rendering,...

no, if you just export your sketchup model as a .obj file it goes just fine. i apply my materials in sketchup, usually just random colors or whatever. then, when i load it into c4d, i edit the existing materials to create the correct material to render.

I've never really set up interior renders with lights, i usually just use a sky and a sun with global illumination. in this render, the white plastic material has subsurface scattering in the luminance channel to achieve the correct translucency, but no interior lights.

When I have the time I'll give that a shot, does it render quickly, I use maxwell and it's too slow...

The design is so brilliant. I'd murder people to have my local metro station look like this. Really, really nice job.

Yet another great project, your boards are amazing! Once again, I love how you represented the construction details in 3dimensions. I rerally want to try that in my next project.

God, this is so good. It makes me really mad that it will hardly get any notice on dA, I'm trying to think of where else you could post that would get more people looking at your work. I'm not great at analyzing architecture, but just the layout even and the design work on your board is so appealing! I love the oranges and the way you numbered the layout with the circles. I also like the Sketch Up cutaway.

I heard from someone who has a cousin in the industry that they're really looking for people who can use Sketch Up now. I think you'll have no problem finding a job when you need to.

The large render is also really solid and great. I love the orange tiling and the marble flooring (I think it's marble? It's very reflective and nice). I wish I could walk through this building, I think this would make an awesome transit center. They should like, make it.
