Heyho everyobdy!
Another piece which I really like, I hope that so do you ^^
It took me roughly about a week. It wasn't a non-stop process due to school and other tasks having priority over drawing. Also it has been hard to spot mistakes and things that I should polish more, but I think it's not half bad!
I have been inspired by many different factors, but actually the biggest one was my imagination. The helmet of this trench soldier is based on polish helmet from WW1, but the piece is not really set in any specific time period, or at least I didn't intend it to. I wanted to focus on storytelling and shading.
EDIT : Fun fact - After posting the image I was browsing Da to find out how other people depict trenches and soldiers of that era. Funnily enough I have found a piece that has a similar topic and name to the one You can see above. It's worth noting that I have never seen it before, damn the world is a small place full of similar ideas!

No problem, mate, it portrays feeling quite well. Pics like this also make me wonder sometimes. What goes through a soldiers' mind right before death? Are they afraid? Are they thinking about their comrades? Are they thinking about their families? Are they just in pure shock and can't think? It just makes me wonder.

That's exactly what I was thinking about when I was creating the initial sketch, tried to keep that climate and make the viewer feel it. I think that I've accomplished it
