Description
While surfing ΓΌber through the 'most popular' Deviant category I ran across this fine pencil drawing [link] by Cataclysm-X . It just screamed to be colorized, so I obliged. I hope you like how the coloring came out!Posted with the full permission of

Thanks, it is all in the layers, man. Layers in Photoshop is a godsend, couldnβt live without themβ¦well, maybe I could live, but I wouldnβt be nearly as entertained, layers are the key to any kind of βartβ I produce.

Thank you for the compliment, the skin texture is mostly due to Cataclysm's outstanding pencil drawing's shading, the colorization only brings it out a bit.

Hey that's good! Looks like watercolours... how exactely did you do it? Did you use watercolours or was it some neat digital technique I know nothing about...?

Thanks for the compliment. The process I use to colorize pictures is similar to the traditional art technique of washes, only sort of in reverse. I start with the grayscale βunder paintingβ, in this case Cataclysmβs outstanding pencil drawings, and apply a series different color washes to achieve the desired effect, then I decide where I donβt want the wash, instead of where I do want the wash, as I would with traditional materials. The end result is what you see here. And now that I let my secert techneque out, no one will be impressed with my colorizations.

Thanks, for your comment. Cataclysm did the hard part, what I did was really easy, but it allowed me to feel just a tad bit artistic, so it was a win, win .
