The throne room was cast into darkness, the sky covered by a bank of fog. The fire was all but burnt out, the coals glimmering silently in yellow, orange and reddish colors.

Thud

The tip of the sword had etched a small cleave in the stone floor as it was lifted, and then lowered countless times by now.

Thud

Yolvhur sat on the throne, his sword clenched in his right hand, resting it's blade on the floor beside him.

His eyes stared bluntly at the floor in front of him, restless...troubled. His mind was not any better.

It was there -within, where the battle was raging...

He closed his eyes and lowered his head onto his hand.

His eyes shot open and he flew up abruptly from his seat. With a roar that seemed to shake the very walls of the stone room, he plucked the massive sword back and flung it away from him. The heavy sword struck the large stone table, and with a low crunch the blade shattered the table into two, the severed parts crashing down onto the floor.
Yolvhur glared down at the remains of the table, his breath rushing, mouth twisted, hands shaking. He staggered backwards and fell back onto the throne, holding his head with both his hands.

How?

How did this happen?

How -could it happen?

First-...first it was Mother...then Father...

...and now, his brother.

Brother...always the-. Finally -finally when he started to get his act together, he-

-he was taken.

TAKEN!

The Locust...it was him.

He rested his arms onto the throne and sat backwards. His eyes went open, glowing -burning in the darkness.

That Locust...

The one with the strange eyes, the hard face...what was his name?
He can't remember. He did not care to learn it, and it does not matter now...

What did matter, was him.

-that damned, despicable, insufferable little Locust TOOK his brother, and he was going to suffer for it.

He flew up and stepped over to the huge wooden cradle that stood to one side of the room, heavy plates of armor suspended from it.

He was going to pay...he was going to pay.

And death to anyone who stood in his way...

The heavy doors swung open and Yolvhur stepped outside, the sword resting on his shoulder. It was easy to imagine that the floor shivered underneath him with each heavy footstep -the armor plates adorning his body clattering slightly against one another.

General Marsiz stood to one side at the stairs leading down to the stretching bailey. He had turned as the doors opened, and was now approaching the hulking figure of the King.
' Your Majesty-.'' He started, but Yolvhur cut him off.
' Ready the army. As soon as I return, we get this done. Too much time has been wasted already.''
' Yes, Your Majesty...uhm-...''
He reached out and touched Yolvhur's shoulder...he stopped and turned slightly towards him.
' Yolvhur...where are you going?.''
Yolvhur shook his head.
' Got a tiny matter to attend to -I'll be quick. Make sure everyone -and I mean everyone is ready...''
He paused.
' ...today we end this. For my Father.''
Marsiz nodded.
' For King Mevul...and you, my Lord.''
Yolvhur stared at him, then he lifted his arm and gave him a light thump on his shoulder with his fist, and swung around.

...for King Mevul.
