Description
Ceratosauria>Neoceratosauria>Abelisauroidea>Abelisauridae>Carnotaurinae>Ekrixinatosaurus>E.nevesiJorge Calvo, 2004
Time: Early Cenomanian (100-97 million years ago)
Length: Up to 7.6 meters (25ft) when fully grown, based on the holotype specimen.
Height: 2.15 meters (7ft) at the hips when fully grown, based on the holotype.
Weight: Up to 1.75 tonnes for the holotype specimen; possibly less.
Habitat: Candeleros Formation, Río Negro, Neunquén and Mendoza provinces, Argentina.
Ecology and hunting habits: Medium-sized terrestrial predator. Despite its short legs, Ekrixinatosaurus was probably a relatively fast runner for its size (although not as fast as the speed demon that is Carnotaurus) and would have targeted prey smaller than itself.
Diet: Juveniles of titanosaurian sauropods such as Andesaurus, rebbachisaurids such as Limayisaurus and Nopcsaspondylus, as well as undescribed iguanodont remains. It may also have fed on small coelurosaurs like Buitreraptor and Bicentenaria.
Competition: Juveniles of the large carnosaur Giganotosaurus, which likely targeted the same prey items until it reached a certain age. Adult Giganotosaurus may have been potential predators of Ekrixinatosaurus, weighing up to four times as much.

Hi randomdinos,
I really like this reconstruction of Ekrixinatosaurus you have done. I would be very much interested in colouring this (like I do with other lineart) if you do not plan to colour it yourself. Would you give me the permission to do so? You would be credited in the description of the image, of course.
I also looked up the Wikipedia entry for Ekrixinatosaurus and noticed it has no images. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ekrixina…
How do you feel about your lineart being used for a scale diagram, and perhaps the coloured image to be used as a reconstruction? It would look similar to this scale diagram I have drawn for Piatnitzkysaurus found here: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…
Please let me know what you think. If you do not wish your lineart to be used in any way, I completely understand and will respect your decision. Thanks for your time.

Hello!
I would really appreciate if my lineart was used for that purpose, don't worry. My only reccomendation would be to also contact Paleojoe, as the lineart is based on his skeletal reconstruction.

Thank you again, working hard on the Mapusaurus project now. It's been hard because of working over the summer and prepping for my senior thesis. I'm really interested in your recent charts and profiles as well.

Heh. Looks kinda funny with it's huge head. Interesting critter, he is.
Say, where did those huge estimates come from, anyways? Apparently there's no existing evidence to support it or anything; did they just pull out a random size from thin air or something?

"I have a big head and little arms" isn't a tyrnnosaurid-only catchphrase, it would seem.
Oh, that's just what turns out when you ignore the limb material and vertebra and scale it off of Carnotaurus based on the skull. It's got a bigger head than Carno, so by that logic 10-11 meters would make sense, if only there wasn't enough evidence of the contrary.

I see. So in other words, it was smaller than Carno, but with a bigger head then...huh...
Oh, and also, 'giant Kem kem abelisaur?' I haven't heard of that...

Oh, that one's pretty recent. I only got to know it from people criticizing the Feathernazi artwork that was made for it:
www.redorbit.com/media/uploads…
Full covering of feathers... on abelisaurs... egh.

I love the discovery of a new abelisaur in the Kem Kem 'hood!
However, to be honest, screw that artwork with a thagomizer.
