Well I happen to think it's brilliant. I like the way you split up the first two lines, but kept the third whole. Good effect, and I can just imagine how much better it would seem spoken aloud.

Too bad there are never any poetry readings where I live. It's just a bunch or rednecks and hicks who dont even remotely appreciate any kind of art. I started writting this when my ex asked me to go out with him again and even after he disrespected me i still wanted him back. I felt very controversal about it after i had told him yes so to let out all the confusing thoughts swiming around in my head i just started writting. That's where the lines "cause and cure of pain" and "can't learn my lesson" came from. And the line "grow to redeem themselves from shame" is my hope that we both can learn from what happened last time and have a stronger relationship, and so far that's working out. Sorry, im just spilling my life story.
