When the flood is in their first stage, before a gravemind is formed, their only purpose is to infect and kill.
Once they become coordinated (a gravemind forms) their purpose is to destroy all sentient life in a galaxy.
Once they have consumed all life in the galaxy the flood have become masters of all the technology in said galaxy.
Once that happens they move to the next galaxy to consume.
The floods purpose is to consume, kill, and destroy. That is all.

No, they can't "get bored". They are only controlled by one being (the gravemind) who's intent is to destroy all life and nothing will stop him.

True. It still though doesn't take away from the fact that they're both living organisms that have been killed, infected, occupied, ressurected, and morphed into a specific kind of creature from a list. Do you play more dead space or halo?

Pretty much both.
The Flood actually prefer live victims. Not only is the food fresher, but the parasite gains access to their victim's memories and becomes smarter in the process.
The Gravemind has access to so many memories, so much information, down to the very emotions of his victims and what they were thinking.
You can learn more about the Gravemind in the short story Human Weakness, in the Halo Evolutions novel. The Flood's origins are revealed in the Forerunner saga books.
I've read Dead Space Martyr, read one of the graphic novels, seen the animated comic, played every Dead Space game and there's still a lot to learn about Necromorphs and their relationship to the Marker.
When it comes down to it, the Flood are the more intelligent parasitic species. Even with a Hive Mind, the Necromorphs are just mindless feral creatures. When a Gravemind has been established, the Flood enter the Coordinated stage. They can drive vehicles and even command ships.

The same way the Covenant worship the Halo rings... Man, could Dead Space have taken more inspiration from Halo? Both religious groups are single-mindedly chasing after the objects that will bring doom to everyone.

its not bad overall tho, better than 1. and plus spartans ACTUALLY seem like spartans again. the 3s never felt like spartans to me just soldiers in armor. the 4s i hope were made by Halsey because she knows how to make a spartan, the 2s were awesome, like chief!
