Emily is a splendid Green engine, she works really hard and she’s really kind. Emily liked everyone and everyone liked Emily, except for Diesel. Diesel was a very devious engine, he’d often get the other engines into trouble. Early in the morning, Emily was ordered to pull some trucks from the docks, Diesel was there and he decided to play a mean trick on Emily. Diesel purred up to Emily, who was waiting at a junction. “I know a back way” Diesel said in an oily voice. “Oh thank you” puffed Emily who was still sleepy. Diesel told Emily about an old branch line in the woods. “They call it silent woods” Diesel oiled. “Is it really quick?” asked Emily. “Oh it’s quick alright” Diesel purred. Emily wasn’t sure if she could trust him, she had heard stories of the devious Diesel and had never met him up with until this point. “It wouldn’t hurt to try” puffed Emily. When Emily left the junction, she let out a pep pep to Diesel. Diesel replied with a honk honk of his dirty horn. Emily raddled on the rail and puffed tiredly down the line. She then saw a sign that said “Silent Woods” Emily then puffed down the track, but what she didn’t see under was “DANGER, NO ENGINES ALLOWED!” Emily puffed down the old line, she could hear birds chirping and water rushing. She saw over grown bushes and hanging trees, but what Emily didn’t notice was tree that had grown in the middle of the track. Emily’s vision was blurred and by the time she saw the trunk, it was too late. Soon Boco, another Diesel, was rushed to the scene with the breakdown crane and Emily felt really silly now. When Emily left the repair yard she saw Diesel again, he was talking to Boco about Emily’s accident. “How could you have done such a thing to Emily?” Boco asked. “Ah she just another steamer” Diesel replied. Emily then rolled up to Diesel “you should be ashamed of yourself you big bully” Emily puffed, but Diesel just snorted and purred away. Now Emily felt really sad “don’t let it get to yah Emily” said Boco “he’s just a no good dirty jerk who gives Diesel a bad name.” Boco the followed Emily to the yards, even though he didn’t shunt, he still shunted Emily’s trucks for her. “Thank you Boco” puffed Emily. Boco ginned “aww shucks, he purred. On that day forth, the two became very best friends.
