Description Rope tornado south of Hays, Kansas. The weather models on the morning of May 25 were a great surprise and we rushed out to Kansas quite unexpectedly. This tornado was the first one I've ever been a little concerned about being too close to, it was moving quite a bit and at one point heading right for us. It roped out shortly after.
Summary: appeared, tried to kills us, gone. That didn't leave near enough time for photos in my book!

I was really taken by the colors and saturation from the rain in this scene. What I found really interesting later is the scene was very black and white from the other side, the photos from the south looked just like my April 14 twister: [link]

Man your tornado pictures are so interesting! I've never seen a tornado like this before so I didn't even know it existed!
The 2 photos you took of it are so different it really looks like one is black and white and the other is color. lol

Thank you! Yes there is a big difference between seeing the same tornado from the front versus from the back side of the storm. One side is very colorful and the other is just black and white!

This picture only shows less than 1/3 of it, stretched across half the sky from our view!

The shapes that ropes take are so interesting. Great shot, and glad it didn't kill you. XD

Thank you! This one was LONG. It may have appeared so partly because of our position, but the whole tornado stretched nearly 180 degrees across the sky!

Lol! We did see the TIV a little while later! I'll bet Casey and Timmer would have both killed for our spot on this one
