Description
Aspen Comics asked me to do a one-shot showcasing Ember Silva from the comic Shrugged. I jumped at the chance to work with the great bunch of people at Aspen. Many of them I know from back in my "Witchblade" days.I think the book comes out in Feb.
Unfortunately, there's no way I could do justice. I could not capture all the fun and character insanity he put into the title.
My humble offering...

I love how you drew her fiery hair as well as the steam in such a fluid way.

Very fun cover or pin-up. I like all the textures and the fact that she is wearing an oven mit, especially over her fore-arm gauntlet things. haha. That's great.

Very nice, Randy. This could've potentially been a really dull piece, but you made it look awesome. I'm in awe of your pencils as always.

Three thinngs-
She is great! I love the pose and shading. It gives a sorta 'hey when did you come in?' look.
I love how you did the fire hair! I've been talking to people and we were saying how easy it is to make the fire look more like a fire wig than it actually belong there. But this looks great! And now I get to see it in pencil to help figure out hwo to do it! Thanks!
Finally I adore your background! I am terrible at perspective. And those cabinets are incredible! The corner cabinet turn is great. All the work through the drapes to the hardwood floor looks like a building plan! Incredible!

Funny, I tried to find a good picture to reference the kitchen, and could not. So I ended up getting down on the floor and taking a picture of my own kitchen, loading it into my computer, scaling it and printing it out and light-boxing it. It fit perfectly!
Anyway, I thought it was ironic I ended up using my own kitchen after having no luck finding a good shot.

Well.. That is ironic. Now you have a famous kitchen. And it is a perfect fit!
That is great that you were able to take a phicture of your kitchen for it. (Nice wall mounted oven and microwave by the way.)
You're good with the camera, flexible enough to do it and having a stunning kitchen! I'm jealous.

Ha. No, it was from Weird Science. Bill Paxton as "Chet" to "Lisa". I used to think that was Bill's first (somewhat big) role, until I saw that he was i the first Terminator.
