Yay for memes and bandwagons!

A brief explanation of my artistic influences:

1. ANIMALYMPICS- This was the first movie that I obsessed over as a little girl. I loved animals and seeing animals in cartoony manner doing sports was a bliss for me. My favorite dude was Dean Wilson, the surfing otter. He inspired me to become a better swimmer and be obsessed with surfing and the beach.

2. DISNEY'S ROBIN HOOD- Like I said, I loved animals and this movie was awesome for me. i loved every character and especially Robin. This movie shaped the way I drew eyes, hands and expressions (Thanks Milt Kahl!)

3. DON BLUTH- Since Don Bluth's movies used to have a certain Milt Kahlness to them, I also loved them. Also: animals. Especially dogs! I had a love/hate relationship with Don Bluth's overacting, but it really helped me understand expressions.

4. OLIVER & COMPANY- Talking animals? With shades? I'M IN! When I was like 5 or 6, I drew endless fanfics with these characters. I even imagined them playing the part of my favorite musical group (Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40....yeah WTF. Dodger era Juan Luis Guerra para mí... W T F?)

5. TMNT- Ninjas, action, comedy and plenty of toys to help my imagination.

6. LOONEY TUNES- Comedic timing gold and elasticity.

7. TINY TOONS- One of my longest running obsessions (since 4th grade to 7th grade) Tiny Toons preety much shaped my cartoony style. You can see this style in the way I draw some animal's eyes, noses and cheeks.

8. STREET FIGHTER- I adored SF and started mixing the artistic influences of Bengus with my Tiny Toon style.

9. GLENN KEANE- My favorite artist of all time. Knowing that I could be like him helped me get through my depression and gave me the strength to go to college. He is the Michaelangelo of animation. From him, I learned to fluidly sketch and the importance of weight and movement.

10. JOE MAD!- Love the way he draws hands, action scenes, hair, armor, muscles..hell. He was my high school hero. And he knows how to draw everyone looking hot!

11. JUANJO GUARNIDO- When I grow up, I want to be like Juanjo. He draws anthropomorphic art with a realism that's better than looking at a live-action film.

12. CHRIS BACHALO- My biggest inspiration in college. Love his black & whites, his insane detail and the way he draws eyes. Also, I've always had a thing for goggles, chains and gears and he indulged me with Steampunk!

13. BARBUCCI & CANEPA- This pair of husband and wife is very inspiring to me and my hubby. They complement each other to make these sick artworks that blow you away. Their style ends up looking like Disney for Adults.

14. HAWT GUYZ!- Strong, beefy hot guys always have inspired me to draw. RRrrrrrrrr!

15. BRAD BIRD- I love Brad Bird's character designs, with those funny eyes and interesting shapes, especially in Family Dog. Other films that inspire me in which Brad Bird has worked are: Animalympics, Family Dog, Iron Giant, The Incredibles and The Critic.

16. THE CRITIC- LOVE their eyes! This series inspired me to infuse deadpan comedy in my drawings with their expressions. I also learned how to simplify characters by studying this series.

17. ARTHUR DE PINS- Amazing artist/animator with an awe-inspiring talent in expressions and colors. He inspired me when I was doing a lot of vector work for my agency.
