Description
Got inspired to do this weird critter after watching Trey the Explainer's old video. Added some speculative features on the head and stuff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK5IgMβ¦Related content

I think I'm in love. Not only do you draw extinct species, but you actually try to imagine the bones with flesh rather than redrawing the mainstream concept. I love that you draw fan art as well, but it's clear what you care about. Thank you for drawing one of my personal favorites, the dim-dim. I don't think I've seen the exposed sail concept used on this one before, and I love that you actually managed to render it with the mammalian family resemblance and the head shape.
And your artistic technique is spot-on. It caught me off guard to see this in the Digital Paintings. That touch of canvas and brush texture is perfect. Your use of color, as well, is astounding. Using the green hue in the tree maked the Dimmy feel warmer and alive.Β
Keep doing what you do; I'll just be off in this corner, loving every little bit of it.Β

Oh, wow. I like this! It really looks like a reptilian-mammal mix as opposed to a lizard with a sail!Β

For 2018? It's sadly Innacurate.
The sail probably only had the very tips exposed, and we have skin impressions from a close relative which show scales. But it's an interesting idea nonetheless.

That is definitely one of the most unique takes of dimetrodon

Trey might have been wrong, but this is still an awesome drawing - he looks so wonderfully scraggly!

This is awesome, though the half-sister theory is no longer true. That was a misinterpretation by Trey, I'm afraid.

Wonderful work, I always have found a more mammalian lookingΒ Dimetrodon interesting for some reason with whiskers and fur/hair here and there about it.

Hasn't the bare spines and hump idea been debunked? It's a cool pic in any case.

Haven't heard that the bare spines on the sail was debunked, have an article to share about it?

It was never supported, it was a thing enthusiasts here and on youtube spread out of misreading one publication that had already been out for several years.Β
Watch Trey's recent video on correcting his mistakes.Β

Yes I think. I'm kinda late in that, I only watched Trey's Dimetrodon video about a week ago.

Nice! I love this new trend of more mammal-like stem therapsids. They seem more accurate, since in earlier reconstructions they look like skinned mammals covered with scales.Β
I like this dimetrodon, doesn't look reptilian at all, but it doesn't look exactly mammalian, either. It's some other thing that doesn't fit in the obsolete Linnean categories that still tinge our perception. It's something alien and unlike anything living today.Β

They look like they're making a "mrowr" sound
This piece look wonderful though, the face looks very cool, the body is very nice, and the paws seal the deal. This all looks very organic and natural !

I tend to imagine pelycosaurs with a more reptilian/salamander-like exteral appearance, but this mammal-like take is also interesting.
