Quest Art: Quest #5 (Swimming for the first time)

All Quest stuff is is tracked in my Quest tracker.

I've been really struggling with art motivation as of late, and also struggling with how I want to do backgrounds.

I'm not fully happy with this, but glad that I could push through my motivation problems to finish a picture.

It was only a matter of time before Gwen needed to learn how to swim. And one day, on a rather warm day, her family made way to the nearest pond. Some of her Fuzzbuzzies went straight into the pond to splash about, while a couple stayed near Gwen and urged her to join; tugging her fur, poking at her lightly with their nimble beaks, and making sweet little chimes of encouragement.

She had only ever drank from water, not swam in it. She didn't quite understand how- and watching the Fuzzbuzzies didn't help as they just seemed to float. She's was quite sure she wouldn't simply float. In fact judging by her first attempt to fly, she expected to fall.... well in this case, sink.

Puffing up her cheeks in a huff, Gwen began sauntering forward. She walked sloshed through the pond until coming to a halt once the water tickled her chin. She wasn't floating.... or swimming. In fact nothing was happening. Isn't something supposed to just happen?

Several Fuzzbuzzies were floating around her peeping. She let out a few uneasy 'meeps' back at them but pushed forward, trusting her family. Once her front paws couldn't touch she did her best to keep her head above water, making a peddling motion while her back legs were still safely planted on the pond's floor.

Something was happening.... her head wasn't underwater...? Shocking!

She didn't fully understand how, but knew it had to do with the peddling. Kicking her back feet off she peddled onward into the depths of the pond, growing more confident as she swam further. Emitting various happy sounds, she played in the water until she eventually grew tired and made her way to the side of the pond for a nap.... very glad that she first swim didn't end poorly like her first 'flight' did.
