Overall, very pleased with this one as well. Wolf heads are simple, it's the damn human-paw combination that make me pull my hair out. The leg in front took a few goes, my roughs all looked like they made sense, but when I fleshed it out I had hip detachment and other silliness that made me have to rework it about 3x.

Phew.

10-12 hours.

Wow, that is one awesome piece. Again, I must compliment your anatomy skills. The legs and arms/hands are often the most difficult to master and you did them perfectly. I think I'll just have to watch you now

I love the pose.

Btw- Have you heard of Goldenwolf? Of course you have. Probally. >_> A lot of people have. Either way, it looks quite similar to one of her old sketches. Not saying you did anything wrong or anything... just. Looks similar. <3

Thanks, and yup, of course I have. There are a great many artists who's approach to werewolves I have been influenced by over the years. Though I'm not familiar with the sketch your talking about.

For this pose I used sketches I had from a model, got to LOVE it when models do dynamic poses

No offense taken, I know my work is my own.

It was a very...very old sketch of a Kierrin, holding a staff. But that's all i remember about it. The last time i saw it is when she still had her chat-boards before she re-did her website.

I meant no offense, i was just stating the similarities. Forgive my arrogance, it was quite late at night and i was feeling the effects of sleep deprivation.

This is really cool. I like the runes on her bracelets and sheath for her knife.

Oh, it seems she has them on her beads too. Would those be the ones she'd toss/read?

On her leg, the one that would be our right, you can see straps; that's where I imagined the pouch being attached where she'd have her runes to toss/read

I decided to feature her dagger instead of the pouch.

very nice!! I actually like the pose of this one better and I love the dagger she has on the inside of her thigh The anatomy looks great in this one too. I definitely agree with having a hard time with the paw/human hand combo...it really can be a pain

Thanks, yeah I do like the female better, but I think its just a matter of I warmed up on the male.

Thank you very much,

I never really try and draw something without reference on hand, I really am not good at drawing from memory yet - but I can tell I'm much better than a year ago!

My reference never has to be doing "exactly" what my pose is, but I at least need something to glance at - I find it easy to imagine it in a different pose or foreshortened. A full length mirror and a dog is invaluable.

I found the more I emphasized the bone structure of the joints, the better the hands/feet looked.

yeah im always searching for more anatomical referances for dogs, horses and humans ect... horses are a real pain in the neck!

So you kind of take the general gist of you referance and then apply it to waht you want? good thinking.

well keep doing it ,those feet and hands are teh shizz!
