Edit: I finally realized what I was doing wrong with the headdress, I believe it's fixed now. I think my 2nd go was far more successful, there is a lot here I'm really happy with.The Xolon are the undead, raised from those fallen in battle by Mictali priests. The torn bodies are revived, infused with animal bone, unnatural strength, and skin that toughens to stone. They are rebuilt anew, now existing to serve - their former existence as the living faded away.
Many thanks to =arvalis for his help, especially with issue I was having with the leg and blade, you rock!
Paintovers/redlines/critiques are welcomed and encouraged if anyone cares to. I am more concerned about my approach to lighting/colour/background than anatomy (although you're welcome to point that out too - I know it has issues, like his wonky knees I'm considering redoing).

Beautiful work!!! Outta curiousity, is the Xolon a legit beliefe out of the Aztec or Mayan Heritage?? im trying to learn more bout my ethnicity and i stumble upon this amazing art and i read the discription and i see the skull is that of a Jaguar type which resembles the Aztec warrior class and i see how that amazingly makes this piece whole with the description and story behind it, so thats where my question comes in is that if it was a legit belief that was practiced on having these undead warriors attempted on being created? n_n

Both and none - the realm in the game they are for (Cyra:Age of Dissonance - still in development) takes inspiration from a blend of Mesoamercian cultures.

The skull is actually his head (it's a jaguar skull). I guess think of them like zombie robocops. You cannot see any human aspects, they are meant to be combat drones.
