It's pretty obvious from my costumes that I'm a big fan of old school role-playing games. ^.^ One of them I've always appreciated is the Phantasy Star series for Sega; and though I like them all, IV remains my favorite due to its gameplay, illustrated cutscenes, and characters. Rika has been on my cosplay list for a very long time, so when some friends invited me to participate in a Phantasy Star cosplay group for Katsucon 2006, I leapt at the chance to dress as this armored but adorable Numan girl!Rika was my first experience with making wig dye and dying a wig, and the challenge to get her pinkish-red hair color was a lot of fun. I learned a lot about concocting different dyes, and how to use them! I also learned the art of cosplay cobblery...I got so sick of seeing 4-6" heeled thigh high boots in stores that I decided to just make my own...and they turned out amazingly well. I'm also very proud of how her armor turned out; it's fitted and comfortable, lightweight, and the whole deal collapses down into plates so it's very easy to pack in a suitcase!

Big Phantasy Star IV and Rika fan here. I actually drew my first Rika from this pose over a year or so ago. It was a real treat.

If you do any more retro Sega cosplays, might I suggest Alisia Dragoon?
She's a fiery-red haired warrior mage whose character and game just did not get the love it deserved. Summoning monsters to aid her in battle, blowing enemies away with auto aiming thunder magic, you get the idea.

Man, one day I'm going to have to go back and beat those games. I love RPGs, but my attention span tends to wander after 30 hours or so.
The boots are awesome, btw. If you hadn't said anything, I would never have guessed you modified them yourself. Looks better without the heels too.
I still don't know how all these video game girls fight in high heels. Makes no sense.

Strangely enough. This reminded me of Marjoly from Rhapsody. I never managed to finish any of the phantasy stars ; ;. I take that back. I finished 1 and got started on 2 then I lost my game.

Oh MAN. I know a couple who could attempt wren. >=3! The problem? They aren't cosplayers and probably never will be.
But that seven foot old man down the street from me could probably be swayed to dress up like raja for HALLOWEEN hehehehe. >
It'll be like the time we got my dad to dress like Neo Cortex. XD
Until then, it'll just be PSIV drawing galore for me. XP
