Description
It felt like there was darkness all around him. He didn't know where he was going, what he was doing. All he could do was keep running. What was happening? Where was he? And why was it so dark? There was no sign of anything familiar. He started to call out, though he didn't know why, "his" name. Maybe hoping in the back of his mind that he would come and save him.

"NARUTO!" The scream seemed to fade instantly. There was no echo.

He collapsed on to what must have been the ground. He couldn't tell. The black-haired boy started to shiver. It seemed too cold.

"I wish you were here..." He murmured, tears trailing down his face. "I wish you were here..."

He glanced up, his vision blurred by tears. He saw a small light, far off in the distance. Sasuke stayed put, it seemed to be coming towards him. In a blinding flash, a figure appeared in front of him. His blonde hair was curtaining a small part of his face. His eyes were filled with empathy, a sad smile on his face.

"Don't cry, Sasuke..." He whispered, and wrapped his arms around him. "I'm here."

Sasuke's eyes widened. It all felt so real, so authentic. But it couldn't be. Naruto was... he was dead. Wasn't he?

"Naruto..." He said, completely shocked. "Are you... Are you alive?"

Sadly, Naruto shook his head. And then, Sasuke saw them. Behind Naruto were billowing, beautiful wings. Feathers flowed upon him, throughout his wingspan. A small, circular halo was hovering above his head. He was an angel. The angel Sasuke always knew him to be.

"But Sasuke, I wanted to see you. And the only way I can is... Well, is through your dreams." Naruto explained. He smiled, holding him closer. "I'm so sorry... You've been suffering, haven't you?" He whispered soothingly in his ear. "I'm so sorry, Sasuke."

His eyes were so deep, so emotional. It was too much. Sasuke burst into tears.

He buried his face in Naruto's chest and cried. "Why... Why did you leave? I needed you. I still need you...!" He sobbed, clutching Naruto like a lifeline. "It's all my fault, if I was stronger you-"

Naruto put a finger on Sasuke's lips, silencing him. He placed a hand on Sasuke's cheek, wiping the tears away with his thumb. "It's not your fault, Sasuke. It's not anyone's fault. It's just the way things happened."

"B-but..." Sasuke stammered, breathing becoming more erratic, "I- I didn't want you to go..."

"I know," Naruto whispered, "I know."

"Will I see you again?" Sasuke whispered, arms wrapped even tighter around the blonde.

Naruto nodded. "I will always be there for you in your dreams. Just call for me."

The raven-haired boy smiled. "You could be here often."

Naruto entwined his hand in Sasuke's and said, "I don't mind."

Naruto reached into his pocket and finally found what he was looking for. He pulled out a small gold ring, and said, "Keep this. Think of it as a promise to each other, until I can truly see you again." He placed it in Sasuke's palm, and said, "I'll be seeing you... Sasuke."

Sasuke woke up suddenly, heart racing. What kind of a dream was that? It felt so real. His eyes darkened. He would be stupid to believe that. It was only a dream. He placed a hand on his face, trying to remember what had happened, when he felt something cool and metallic on his finger. His eyes widened in shock. He pulled off the ring, to make sure it was real. Someting, however, caught his attention. There was a small engraving on the inside of the ring that read:

"I promise."

Many years later...

"It's such a shame."

"Well, he was well into his old age."

"How old was he, anyway?"

"Hmm... I think he turned around 80 or so when he died."

"That long..."

"Well, it is Sasuke, after all."

"Of course. Is it true that he never married?"

Dozens had gathered at the funeral of Sasuke Uchiha. Some old friends, but others of which had passed on. Some only villagers who barely knew him were crying at his ceremony. Some were only there out of respect for his old honered clan. He was the last of the Uchiha. They mourned the death of a fallen and honored warrior.

Far above, as far as anyone could geuss, there was a figure in the clouds. He was a young man, no older than nineteen. The feathers on his wings tickled his cheeks, his halo glinting in the sunlight. He sat cross-legged, looking down from the skies, as if he was waiting for someone. The boy's blue eyes were intent, and he seemed somewhat impatient. All of a sudden, his face brightened, happier than he had ever been. In the distance, there was another man, much, much older coming towards him. His hair was grayed with age, his face wrinkled. But for some reason, the boy recognized him, flying into his embrace.

And then, what you might call a miracle occured. The man seemed to be going back in time. His fair skin was smoothed. His hair regained it's familiar jet-black hue. Now, he seemed to be no older than the blonde, though he was slightly taller. He encircled his arms around the young man before him.

And there was only one thing he could say then.

"I missed you."

And in each other's arms, they would cry.
