A crack of thunder cascaded throughout the land, and a lonely boy felt water trail down the back of his neck.

'The rain is falling, Naruto. The tears of thousands of angels are sweeping the earth... Cleansing it of it's sins...'

Sasuke Uchiha, hands dug deep into his pockets for warmth, waited. He wasn't sure for what. All he knew was what was around him at that one moment. For in front of him, there was something he knew should not be. There was simply no sense in it. There was a simplistic gravestone, nothing spectacular, nothing unique. And yet, the stoic boy could not take his eyes off the sight. For it was not the stone itself, but what was carved within it.

Died: Age 19
"No longer a demon."

'Idiots.' Sasuke thought, bitterly clenching his fists tighter. 'He was never your demon in the first place... He was just Naruto... That's all...'

"Hey, Naruto..." Sasuke said, his voice barely above a whisper, "Are you crying, Naruto? Is that what this rain is?"

He fell to his knees, suddenly feeling terribly weak. Sasuke leaned his head back, letting raindrops fall onto his eyelids. He let his head level, and the raindrops trailed down his face. "I can't cry on my own anymore, Naruto. I'm sorry, but..." He paused, and let more raindrops fall down his cheeks, resembling tears. "You're gonna have to cry for me now."

(I must be strong,
And carry on,
'Coz I know, I don't belong
Here in heaven.)

"I remember, Naruto, the day you.. you gave your life. For all of us. For everyone," He said, his voice giving an involuntary choke."And... And I wish I could forget it. But... at the same time, I don't. It's almost as if, if I don't keep that one memory of you, then you'll fade away completely." Sasuke paused, and let out a deep, shuddering breath. "I don't want that."

*Flashback*

"Naruto!" Sasuke screamed, voice hoarse and wracked with pain.

The images were swirling into focus now. Naruto was standing, hanging by a thread. Blood covered his entire body, swirling down cuts in his neck, his arms, his torso. Orochimaru only laughed. The blonde's breathing had become ragged and labored. He turned his head around, and let a bitter smile bloom across his face.

"Hey, Sasuke..." He said, clutching his heart. Crimson poured through his hands, onto the ground. A puddle surrounding him became larger with every drop he shed. "T-tell them I'm sorry, okay? Everyone..."

Would you help me stand,
If I saw you in heaven?)

Naruto turned to face the opposer, and said, "Even if I can't have my dream, then... then maybe I can protect the dreams of everyone else. Maybe that's just as good as getting my own dream."

And Naruto, straining to lift his arms, performed a series of seals Sasuke could not recognize.

And as quickly as Naruto said 'Goodbye,' a blinding light came from his body. As Sasuke helplessly watched, he saw the forms in front of him die. Naruto's suicidal move, bringing out all the powers of the Kyuubi at once. The power, however, is enough to overwhelm the body, causing an inevitable death. Sasuke stepped towards the body of his fallen comrade, and fell to his knees.

(I'll find my way,
Through night and day,
'Coz I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.)

"Naurto..."

For the first time in years, Sasuke Uchiha cried.

During the funeral, so many of the adults in the villiage solemnly apologized for thier behavior towards the fallen shinobi. After the first few, Sasuke snapped. He, showing emotion like he had not in weeks, shouted only one thing, and ran away.

(Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart
Leave you begging please)

"WHY DID YOU ONLY CARE FOR HIM IN HIS DEATH?!"

(Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure
'Coz I know they'll be no more
Tears in heaven)

And while he ran, Sasuke swore he heard the wind whisper, "Thank you."

*end flashback*

"Naruto... You were never a demon. But you were a dobe..." Sasuke said, and reached into his pocket. Inside was a small, simple flower. A white rose, representing purity. Wilted and wrinkled from being inside of his pocket, it wasn't much to look at. Sasuke placed it on the grave of his fallen friend, and smiled.

"Goodbye, Naruto. I hope you won't have any more tears in heaven," He choked out, a lumo in his throat.

Sasuke didn't need the rain to cry for him then.
