Good use of Fallout there aldo i doubt the called it "progress" when they nuked there asses back to the stone age.
And calling it vandalism for destroying something made by man is not always the case, same thing goes for smashing something by nature. It depends on your opinion on rather then what you point out here. I ain't saying your wrong do.

If I may ask: Who is "we"? I sure don't "call it progress", and I don't know anyone else who does. So honestly I find this very insulting. This quote might have been true 50 or 100 years ago, but if you ask people today: Is burning/chopping down rain forests progress? no. Is over-fishing progress? no. Is pollution progress? no.
Please give me some examples where "we" (that is; the general opinion or consensus of the population of planet Earth, and not just a minority of people) call the destruction of nature "progress"

I agree with the sentiment of the statement, but not the underlying message. Namely that "Progress" necessarily requires the destruction of nature. Human progress, even technological, does not require the devastation of the natural world. While I will be the first to admit that it has been mostly synonymous in the past, and continues to be in many cases today, we are moving in the right direction. Blanket statements such as this tend to discount the rather large portion of our species that is either not contributing to this at all or are even actively working against such destructive tendencies. It also ignores that fact that it is only within the past few hundred years that this mentality has had any traction among humans.
We were for the most part fairly balanced with nature up until recently in our species' history. It's not that far of a leap to think we can get there again.
So if you feel like this statement is true, don't complain about humanity, do something to make it better.

Wood removed is wood used to either fuel your scientific progress, house your people, etc.

I disagree. There are a lot of people actively working to reverse that. We only began acting out destruction on the earth fairly recently. Up until a few hundred years ago most of us were perfectly content to stay out of nature's way, if not actively try to stay in tune with it. And the only reason we started destroying it is because the views of the groups that didn't think that way were spread across the globe in Europe's colonial phase. Even then it wasn't out of fear or malice. They genuinely thought what they were doing was right. It wasn't, of course, but this is a recent problem. Like, within the last two centuries recent.
We can change it. Humans can change it. We are changing it right now. If you really believe what that quote said about us it just means you've realized that there's a problem. Help fix it.

You're right on one point: human can change, but i were not only talking about nature's destruction, it is true that it is recent, but the fact they do not accept what is different from isn't recent at all... And this is something which didn't change a lot.
