Spotted yesterday comming home from a nice vacation far away from everybody. Thought it looked great how the smoke blended in with the clouds. Cloudfactories... kind of a break from the style I'm currently working on, but wanted to share

When I was a kid, I remember going through New Jersey to get to NY, and as I'm sure every American child passing through NJ did, my sister and I used to call the smokestacks "Cloud machines"

I could ramble for paragraphs about how we're poisoning the earth with our industrialism. In such a tyrade, you are likely to find references to Saruman, Haliburton, and perhaps Darth Vader. I would likely make reference to the size of the factories in relation to the remainder of the photograph being indicative of the seemingly diminutive size of man, and how the far reaching destruction parallels our own. I might even comment on the irony of "clean power" windmills surrounding the "cloud machine," and the connections drawn to our feeble, half-hearted, quarter-followed attempts to clean up after ourselves.
But I won't because I know that kind of comment makes you squeamish

I find it amusing to see an old factory polluting the air used by the modern cleaner energy windmills...perhaps it's a sign that change is coming.

That pollution joining the clouds, it kind of has a symbolic reflection with the land bellow. Subtle I know. I like the lighter clouds and how their pastel colors light the tops of the houses and buildings. Some of the clouds in the back are falling to the ground, its raining in the distance.

I always love your manipulation of the scenes: I see it as the mark of an artist in a piece like this that is already a great photograph, but then is modified by the artist to meet higher expectations and achieve the feeling you want it to have
for this one it's the added effort and your own personal style make the picture just that much better
