This originally started out as a rough sketch I was working on for practice, then it became a belated birthday card, of sorts, for my mother, since she loves Comic Raven almost as much as I do. x) I was pleased with the end result of my little experiment here, so I decided it was worth posting to share with you all, so feel free to let me know what you think. I've never done smoke in Photoshop before, so that was the main focus of my experimentation this time around; it's not perfect, but I'm content with what I managed in my meager attempt.
Also, no lineart with this one, that's a first!I never get tired of drawing Perez's 80's Raven design, it's a tough habit to break.
Time: About 5-7 hours, somewhere in there, since I kept fiddling with it over and over.
Inspiration: Raven had a bad habit of disappearing on her teammates whenever she wanted to be alone, and I always loved the smoke effects that came with her dimensional hops (along with Dick Grayson's perplexed expressions and dialogue
). 100 Theme Challenge provided some good inspiration, as per usual, of late.Music: Rhiannon and Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, Dearly Beloved and Destati from the Kingdom Hearts Soundtrack.
Done with good ol' fashioned #2 pencil and Photoshop CS2, my first entirely digital piece in a good, long time.

I've never had a TT comic hence I have no idea how that smoke looked like but with what you created here it gives me a possibility to imagine it ^^ I really love that effect, and if you say that was your first try at something like this, I think with few more you're be pro at that

and i guess i wouldnt know what really is hard in art im a photographer but ive sure done some wierd things to get a shot trust me! anyway great work and raven is my fav teen titans character(then again isnt she everybody's? lol)

I enjoy photography too, it's just frustrating, 'cause I don't have a camera of any kind to take photos with (I don't count my camera phone xD). I see all these lovely photo opportunities, but can't do anything to capture the moment, heh heh. 
And yes, I daresay that Raven is everybody's favorite, haha. x) Well, in the cartoon, anyway; Comic Raven doesn't get as much love though, and I can't fathom why, 'cause I like her even better than 'toon Raven, heh heh.

I know right i have a teen titans comic and it was like wheres the love?! anywho thanks for saying my art is nice yours is excellent as well,a moving avy would be lovely thank you^^! ive done everything from wanting to climb a tree to stalking small birds to get a photograph like in the pic of a bird sitting on a branch but the whole pic is like a silhouette i like those alot,ive also done things like baiting the photo target with bread or something
you can get a good camera at a walgreens for around 100 dollars
btw i just found out it'll be my birthday in 11 days!!!

I love how you did those metal thingies with ravens you know. I'm really not sure what are those thingies. Just.. The thingies on her coat. :3 They really look metallic. ^^
Maybe you should work on her breasts. They look too flat. Almost remind me of Superman's.
However, I forgot about the smoke. The smoke turned out very nice.

Thanks muchly, her raven clasps were fun to do, as I tend to like shiny things. *coughearringscough* :3 It took me a while to figure out what those were at first too, but I do believe they are like clips that she uses to keep her cloak on. Which is odd, because some artists draw them like they're clipped to her shoulders or something. >_> Anyway, I' glad they look metallic, I was afraid I'd have trouble pulling off a metal look, heh heh.
As for her breasts, well, Raven's original body had really tiny breasts, so she looked really flat-chested all the time, but if hers look like Superman's to you, then I guess I've failed miserably in that department.
Yay, I'm glad my smoke test wasn't a failure! x) That blasted smoke took almost as long as Raven herself did, if not longer, so I'm glad it looks alright, heh heh. xD; I like the smoke ring too, it was fun to do. :3
