Description One of the new villains on "Star Wars Resistance" is Commander Pyre, a First Order Commander who wears a suit of gold-plated stormtrooper armor.  I thought it would be interesting to see how he looked in a more realistic rendering style.  One wonders if he might make an appearance in Episode 9, looking something like this.

We don't know a lot about Commander Pyre, at least not yet.  So far, he seems to be all business (which I like) but it seems clear that he's doing his duplicitous best to worm his way into getting a garrison of First Order troopers permanently stationed on the Colossus.  One might easily speculate the the First Order is probably trying to do the same thing at other strategically relevant locations throughout the quadrant, to expand its sphere of influence.

In light of the appearance of Commander Pyre's gold trooper armor (and Captain Phasma's silver armor) it makes me wonder if there are other silver captains and gold commanders out there in the great big galaxy.  Or for that matter, are there copper, brass, metallic red, and other colors associated with other ranks within the Stormtrooper corps?  Or are these custom "signature" armor sets unique to these particular characters.  At very least, we fans could have a lot of fun creating our own characters with various creative and distinctive color schemes.  What color schemes/character ideas do you think would be cool?

As I went to work on this, I started to notice just how different the "real" (live-action) stormtrooper helmets are from the stylized and simplified animated helmets that appear in "Star Wars Resistance."  At first glance, the "Resistance-style" helmets seem to be nearly identical to their live-action cousins, with maybe just a few changes in proportions as a form of stylization.  Both designs are very similar, and very cool, to be sure.  But on closer inspection, there are a number of notable differences.  The 4 "oval" buttons that are located along the top and sides of the live action helmets are notably missing from their animated counterparts.  The wide black strip (broad-band communication antenna) that normally wraps around the forehead area of live-action stormtroopers also seems to be missing from the animated counterpart, (or maybe it is just minimized or colored differently.)  Also, all of the details around the "ear area" of the live action stormtrooper helmet are completely missing from the animated design.  Finally, the visor/eyepiece area on the animated design is greatly simplified and almost flat as compared to the smooth curved sculpted eyepieces on the live action design.  Personally, I don't think that these differences are meant to represent a different earlier version of the Stormtrooper helmet.  I suspect that these changes are probably just ways to reduce the complexity of the animated models.  All in all, I think that they did a great job in simplifying the design for the animated format.  They still look great, and the fact that I barely noticed the differences at first glance is a testament to their having effectively captured the spirit of the original without having duplicated it exactly.

I also found it interesting that Pyre flew into town (the Colossus) in what appeared to be a black Upsilon-Class Command shuttle.  That would seem to suggest that the Upsilon-Class Shuttle is not a rare or custom vehicle used exclusively by Kylo Ren or other Force-wielding dignitaries like the Knights of Ren.

I don't know if the writers of Star Wars Resistance will take advantage of the opportunity, but their location in the Star Wars timeline would give them the ability to provide stories and greater insight into the Knights of Ren (and Snoke too for that matter.)  Someone certainly ought to have some fun with these characters.  I guess we shouldn't hold our breath for this happening in Resistance, since the premise of the show seems to be intently focused on non-Force-wielders.

Since Resistance is going to eventually cross over to TFA, there is a high chance of the Knights of Ren making an appearance. Though, when it does cross over, Hosnian Prime will be blow up on screen. Since Kaz is from there, and his father is a New Republic Senator (Who lives and works on Hosnian Prime) there is a high chance that Kaz’s family will die in the blast, and the show will gain a darker edge.
