Description
I’ve always liked the Kom’rk Class Gauntlet Fighter. It’s a neat, aggressive looking ship with cool moving wings; and it’s Mandalorian, . . . so what’s not to love? The term “Kom’rk” is Mandalorian for “Gauntlet,” so this ship is commonly referred to as the “Gauntlet Fighter” as well. The Kom’rk Class spacecraft is usually described as a “fighter,” but in truth, it seems to be more of a transport/assault ship, designed to deliver troops into combat zones, its role being similar to that of a U-Wing or a Larty.
One interesting feature of the Gauntlet Class was the ability to deploy a troop rack from the belly of the ship. The rack could hold up to 24 fully armed Mandalorian warriors. Troops would begin seated in the troop bay. When the rack was lowered through doors in the belly of the ship, these troops could quickly leap off the rack and (using their jet packs) fly directly into combat. How cool is that?! . . . and also VERY Mandalorian!
The Gauntlet Fighter has appeared in multiple episodes of both "Star Wars - The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars - Rebels," and seems to be a very capable ship.
Incidentally, the cockpit area seems to have been designed to be reminiscent of the T-Visor featured in many Mandalorian helmets.
The Gauntlet most commonly appears in this off-white and blue-gray paint scheme. In past episodes of Clone Wars and Rebels, Mandalorian Fang Fighters, shuttles, and even speeder bikes have also appeared bearing this same exact color scheme. Interestingly, this color scheme has appeared on vessels belonging to various disparate Mandalorian factions, families, and clans, including Death Watch, Mandalorian Protectors, and Duchess Satine's pacifists (groups that seem to have little in common apart from their association with Mandalore.) Based on this, I wonder if these are the "official" (or at least "unofficial") colors of Mandalorian craft.

Good luck with that project! This is a very cool ship, which is prominently featured in a number of episodes of The Clone Wars and Rebels. I'm surprised that Fantasy Flight hasn't already made a replica of the Kom'rk as part of it's X-Wing gaming line. That would be an excellent miniature!

The Slave 1 also had a grey and blue color scheme. Just saying.

That's a good suggestion. Maul's version of this ship is pretty awesome!

This kind of ship would be perfect for a bounty hunter. Fast and agile yet having ample cargo space to hold prisoners or bounties. Very fitting.

Nice, artwork, although I always assumed the top were less flat and more sloped instead of the cockpit looking so steep.
Which would alow for a small middel floor between cockpit and drop bay for the missing living spaces you commented down below.
would you mind if I use the top view to try my hand at sketchign up some deckplans for this ship sometime in the future?

Thanks for your comment. Sure, good luck with the deck plan sketches.

So just started on the deck palns and once I overlayed a grid scaled to 1 meter length for the squares i realized how massive this ship actually is.
Edit: after givign up on more detaield plans, I settled for some more basic ones that should suffice for my RPG needs:
Kom'rk Class Transport Lower Level
Kom'rk Class Transport Middle Level
Kom'rk Class Transport Upper Level

Yeah, I had the exact same reaction as I started to work on this ship. It's HUGE! It's larger than the Millennium Falcon, but oddly most of it seems to be just "wing," (not particularly useable space) . . . at least as far as we know. Who knows? Maybe those wings are jammed full of missiles, shield emitters, smuggling bays, back-up power supply, and other good stuff. Either way, it's still unspeakably cool! I love it!

Well I was actually speaking of how much space I ahd to fill on those plans even when givign up ~.5 to 1 meter for the hull. I mean the area framed by the cockpit window alone is roughly 19 squaremeters and between 1 to 3 meter high.

I like this fighter. Behind the small cockpit, must be the trooper bay and then the entrance hatch/airlock. If possible, would like to see these from you (not in position for commissions, these are more like suggestions)
- Deckplan to this ship
- Seeing the predecessor of the Z-95 (imo) with cockpit and of course, added hyperdrive

Thanks so much! I really this ship design. I was surprised to learn that (at least according to Wookieepedia) it is actually somewhat larger than the Millennium Falcon. That's pretty big!

They definitely present it as quite large in Clone Wars and rebels by my recollection. But thing could be that the wings make it bigger and that the MF has a bit more cargo and passenger space.

I'm sure that you're exactly right about that. One wonders why it needs those giant wings anyway, (other than to make it look cool.) Hopefully much of the internal space of the wings is dedicated to advanced shield projectors, fuel, batteries, sensors, and useful stuff like that. Regarding the main fuselage, when you imagine how much internal space must be used up by the area dedicated to dropping troops through the ventral bay doors, there probably isn't a whole lot of space left for crew quarters etc. Still, Darth Maul seemed to find it workable as his personal craft, so there must be some living space. Of course he may not have required a lot of creature comforts. Thanks for the comment!
