Description Oswald Cobblepot, (A.K.A. “The Penguin”) is one of the most recognizable villains in Batman’s “Rogues Gallery.”  Whether it’s in the comics, the movies, Batman’66, or the more recent “Gotham” TV Series, this classic villain continues to pique our interest.

With my ongoing interest in creating fanart of “Bat-vehicles,” I thought it would be fun to create a worthy ride for this classic Bat-villain.  For lack of any better term, I call it “The Penguinmobile.”

The Penguin has had a number of vehicles over the years, varying widely in design, from a stolen Batmobile, to a motorized rubber ducky. But the version that struck my fancy was the “Penguin Limo” which was featured in the recent Specular Batman Arcade Game.  It is a stately white stretch limo version of a 1930’s vintage Buick Roadmaster with a logo for the Penguin’s infamous “Iceberg Lounge” on the side.

I really liked this vehicle, because it captures the Penguin’s desire to be perceived as being from “old money.”  It’s proud and stately, luxurious, even ostentatious.  I also like that it comes from the age of gangsters.  While this would be a wonderfully showy car to sport around in today, it would also fit very nicely in the “Dark Deco” world of “Batman the Animated Series.”

So I started with the same basic design featured in the Specular arcade game, then I did a little research on 1930’s Buicks, then added a few of my own embellishments.

I have a neighbor who made a Penguin car out of his 2006 Chevrolet HHR. It looks really sharp! Will have to get a photo and share.

I'd love to see that.  I've encountered a couple of bright green "Riddlermobiles" in my travels, but never a Penguinmobile.
