Much as I haven't seen any new eps this side of the pond yet, it sounds like we're drwing ever closer to that murder/suicide pact between the boys!

I've noticed the changes occuring in the show myself, lately. Eddy definitely seems to be more cruel. Edd is weepier and is totally abused more. Ed... well, honestly, I haven't seen any changes in him. I know Nazz is getting stupider, which, now that I think about it, creeps me out. And I hate the constant hinting at a Nazz / Edd relationship!! EWWWW! It's too gross! I didn't mind the subtle hints in the previous seasons, but the more blatant hints are making me sick, especially considering how the two characters have changed. NO. UNH-UNH. Forget it.
You know, I knew something was wrong with the new season when I saw "Hanky Panky Hullabaloo," but I couldn't pinpoint what. Your drawing, and the comments sourrounding it, just brought it out. I want my old Eddy back. ;_;

Man I've always noticed the new change in EEnE ever since the Valentines Day episode came out, I do like these new episodes but they are getting a bit too extreme in my opinion. Eddy's become a heartless jerk and Double-D keep's on getting abused all the time. I don't really blame Eddy though for the way he acts, ever since the report card episode. I think Eddy suffers some kind of parental abuse like his other two best friends do. I do miss the old episodes when our good ol' Ed Boys got along and never acted like what they act like now. The newer episodes are good but they should really stick to the old season. Great picture btw, poor Eddward. :C

I felt like Ed in this picture. //_T; It's really sad.. Wawy too much emotion for me to handle, I cried~ XD; I'm a pansy..
Anyway. I still like the picture, seeing as how it's a really good way of venting. Even though the characters seem to be changing pretty drasctially it seems in some cases, I still love the show.

It's sorta depressing, how they're messing with the characters to make it more "edgy," it seems. It's not semi-realistic, childhood humor anymore, it's mostly just cruel. Poor Edd seems like he's having real trouble with life in general and not dealing well, Eddy seems to be getting more bastardly by the moment, and (I don't think anyone cares) Nazz has become the epitome of stupid high-school valley girls.
At least Ed is still adorably stupid in that way I've come to love...*sigh*

I take it someone up high slowly figured that "guts are hot", and that you need to cause as much damage as possible to keep up with all the asian crap shows, cuz we all know what happened to Disney because they didn't.. 
I dig violence on 99% of all shows, but I feel a bit sadend that this one true childhood inspired world you made is getting so.. adult..
I dig the crisp look of the new episodes to death, kudos on that... But Edd is really such a cry baby now and Eddy is more like a manic insider Kevin at times, it seems only DD's n Ed's tad childish friendship remains in the newer episodes. And I really don't mind Ed getting dumber, it's just like Homer, they get better with age.

I'm not going to comment on your superb drawing skills because you're already such an expert. If your message is that the show has become alot more violent then I completely agree. I can't complain though because alot of aspects of the show, including this one, have imporved alot. Man, poor Double D; he's the only one that brings any sanity and order to the show.

That is awesome... I can kind of see the difference, but I guess I haven't felt pushed and the like as you had said in one of your replying comments. I'm just taking it like it is. But then....hmmm...-reread over the comments again- Okay maybe being pushed a little...but of how thinking its kind of 'fan' like, cause sometimes I think of evil things of Eddy and the like...since he's kind of become my favorite Ed out of the three, even though I do love all three of them in their own special ways, heh.

It;s like they are becoming the way fans would write a fanfic. Like when fans would write about them, they make there perdsonalitys go twords extrems. Ed is WAAAY more stupid, Eddy becomes even more violent and selfish, and edd is thorwn into emtional chaos. Im not saying that that is were the show is going but it reminds me of the "parodies" as you put it. Still love the show and still love Eddy (even though hes a little bastard) but I miss them just being kids

Ha ha ha.. The thing about being like "fanfiction" is exactly what I've said. Instead of adding anything new to the characters, its just blowing what we alreaedy know waaaay out of proportion. I mean... I know its sposed to be "cartoony" and all... but what I've always liked about the show is that it -did- evolve, but in a totally believable way. You could watch the characters GROW--not be PUSHED and SHOVED and TWISTED around into whatever. And to make it clear again (not to you but to everyone) I too STILL LOVE THE SHOW and (to some extent) season 5. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. Its just going through... what I'd like to *think* is a "phase". Hopefully we'll come out of it. Some of the ones coming up are really good... So I haven't lost hope. Its just my opinion that they should ALL be good--like they used to be.

I started noticeing changes in season three actually. DD was becoming a little more geeky and not so quiet. The other 2 hadn't changed much but were growing and that was ok. I hope your right that maybe this is just a phase.

The show HAS changed drastically since season one, in more ways than have been adressed here.
I can see where you're comming from: the Ed's HAVE changed! I'm kind of disapointed with how cruel Eddy's been acting, and how depressed Edd has been.
But, hell, I pretend it's hormones.
Hasn't changed my opinion on the show in ANY WAY! I still love it, and would shrivel up and DIE if I didn't get my fill of it. I love the new episodes, I just wish Eddy was a bit nicer (He IS one of three of my favorite characters...I'll give you a good three guesses on who the other two are...

I thought it was reeeeeally interesting that he referred to school as "the desolate desert of scholastic learning" in "Out With The Old.." For a kid who's supposed to love structure and school as much as we're led to believe.
*Sigh.* The nuances are still there sometimes... I just get distracted by all of these other ridiculous inconsistencies I'm seeing.

*Sigh*. Pretty much. And I don't -always- mind it. Its just that it seems like those two aspects of his personality are the only ones that get messed with. I mean, he's only built ONE friggin' thing this season! And I wouldn't mind the emotional side--because he IS emotional and sensitive and warm... But more often than not, they're going for the unjustified, totally detached, super-melodramatic drama-queen acting.

Though, it's NOT all the episodes like you said, and that's good to see. Last one I saw was okay, where the Eds were trying to skip school, and, of course, failing miserably by the last minute.
So far, I've liked season 5 for its differences (the new atmosphere and how the kids are reacting to it), but you know how it goes... There's always gotta be SOMEthing bad to come with the good... meh. I'm just sorry it has to be Edd getting so much abuse, the poor kid.

Not only this, but latlely the jokes havent been really...funny since they got into school. I think their last scam that I remember, that was actually funny, was sometime before the episode where they get old. And also, THEY CHANGED THE WAY THEY COLORED THE SHOW! Have you noticed it?! Rolfs eyes sting with the colors of the computer!

Yeah... I'm kind of learning to deal with the computer coloring... But its really awful sometimes. It feels like its getting a little better with some of the super-recent ones.. Ones that haven't aired yet anyway. I find my major problems are the sterility of the school and the super-realistic coloring of the fall outdoors. Who ever heard of BROWN TREES in Ed, Edd n Eddy? Bah.
Not that there aren't recent EPs in which I -really like- the colors. Its again, just seeming to be a hit and miss things when it didn't use to be.

That's mainly what I'm getting at... Well, at least a large part. Eddy's been reduced to a very one-dimensional character in some aspects... Instead of just being boyishly ignorant of other people's feelings, he's often going out of his way to be cruel. Heh... And Edd's always suffering--not just at Eddy's hands, but the writers' hands as well.
Eh. Its not all the episodes... But its more than I'd like to see. Its not the same "balance" that used to exist. And I'm not saying that I hate them... Because I will -always- love the characters. I just want to see them acting like themselves instead of.. well, "parodies" of themselves.

So far, the "deaf ears" thing has been pretty accurate. I've voiced my opinion quite a number of times. So have others. But nothing really comes of it. Its really quite frustrating.

Too much cuteness and goodness isn't good for my eyes. Macabre art and surrealism is good medicine.
I haven't counted all the times Edd's been smashed, violated...or hurt deeply inside. And on and on. It's not that I only see it from Edd's point of view.....but he's the poor one. Many fans relate to him more than the others. Well...it's not ONLY Edd. I like what the characters have become in season 5.
I can really feel the atmosphere: Cold, kinda dark/obscure, weird....always room for surprises (as always).
Season 5 really has a special atmosphere. It's autumn, after all. I have lots of thoughts about EEnE...but if I wrote 'em down, that book would be thicker than 4-5 encyclopedias.

I'm ok with the newer ones, I like 'em. I like how they're in school, which is an interesting change, and yet you still see no other kids or adults, which is quite a feat in my book. I also like this picture because it's not like what you'd normally see on the show. Kick ass.

I am an avid veiwer of the Ed's and I have noticed a HUGE change in character for all three since the first season. I'm not saying that I dislike where they have been taken in character, but it is a noticible change. I am just gratefull that you all are still making new episodes.

Ed is and will always be my favorite, followed closely by Jimmy. But edd does seem to be a bit more outspoken than before, and yes Eddy is more Violent. Why do you think this is a bad season for DD?
