Description A lego build I did over the summer- a homebrewed fortress I had my eyes on ( Vladek's dark fortress, from the Knight's Kingdom collection, if I recall) , until I  thought t to try and build one of my own. It was continuallyslowedcdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/… "> by the need of  essential pieces, while the wait for shipment of said pieces varied, it did provide a few benefits: I was able to find a number of smaller sets to supplement it for  a couple good bargains.

The fortress itself  comprises of three separate structures-   the left and right wings, and the gatehouse tower- these are joined in a modular fashion at the base of  tower.

The wings themselves comprise of a few smaller chambers, including a basement, a prison cell, and stairs. Interior features aside, the wings have an interesting feature: the structures are foldable, courtesy of hinge pieces incorporated at the midsections, this allows the to fold in, to create a more compact structure, or fold outwards, to make it look like a large, grand fortress.

The gatehouse tower  has a few components included- two large doors, a working drawbridge (operable via crank on the side, and  a murder hole for those unwanted guests.

Moving along, after the fort was built, I included a few banners on the towers to make it look a bit more suitable. Though no fort is complete with out residents, so I added a load of soldiers, awizardcdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/… ">, and a lord to oversee them.

Outside the fort is a plethora of siege vehicles for the business of battle and war: including a prison carriage, a  siege tower, a  catapult-laden wagon, and a  compact  ram with limited catapult function.  Aside from them is awizardcdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/… ">, astride a red dragon.... quite a fearful sight for future provinces or enemy kingdoms, that's for sure.

Overall, this was an interesting build, though I never expected it to  grow to such a scale.  Pretty fun to see it all come together.

I have it sitting by my desk, mostly for display purposes, but I may have a little fun with it, now and again.
