I adore MS Paint. Its so simple and perfect in my opinion. Honestly, I love free ware. :B

When I have excess of blank white on the left hand or top side, I usually press CTRL + R, which allows you to flip the image. That way you can just flip your picture and use the handles. I find it tons easier than trying to get the rectangle around the entire image without cutting off the slightest bit too much or too little.

You can also hit CTRL + A to select the whole image and click and drag it to the corner, if you have a single subject like you do with your Sakura. Then use the bottom right corner Handle to crop both sides at once.

I see this is a July deviation, and its possible that you learned this already, but I wanted to tell you for good measure. Sorry if you do know. XD;

This isn't just July old, it's 2006 old!

Thanks for the input though. I still don't use Paint so much, so little things here and there are nice to know.

I'm glad this could help. I understand, though; for being such a basic program, Paint is such a pain to work.

;_; I love you.
I'm a pitiful dial-up user, and people who don't resize their scanned pictures...it's a nightmare. XD

...That's a scanned picture right?
Your scanner pwns mine.
To itty bitty pieces. D: Um...anyway...

...On step 7, I think you meant "area" instead of "are".
And step 9 - it's spelled "extension", not "extention".
Sorry... XD; I'm being really nitpicky.

With step 8, I find it easier to shrink the canvas before pasting with CTRL+V. XD Shrink it so it's smaller than what you copied, then hit CTRL+V...it automatically resizes the canvas to the size the image in your clipboard. <3

...I would use your resizing stamp but I'm not subscribed. D:

RavenScarlett In reply to shadowkitsunekirby [2006-07-10 19:19:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's one of my scanned pieces. The scanner is a Canon Pixma, and it's fabulous once you figure out the best settings for it.

:laughs: Oi, my proofreading sucks. Thanks for pointing those out to me, I'll fix them.

Ah, good point. I actually haven't used Paint since I had my 95 PC like... maybe five years ago XD, ergo my Paint knowledge was haphazardly reassembled enough to make a tutorial. I noticed my Paint program doesn't allow me to do a lot of the things others are able to do, I'm not certain why...

...I would use your resizing stamp but I'm not subscribed. D:

That's okay, just spread the resizing public service message!

shadowkitsunekirby In reply to RavenScarlett [2006-07-10 21:28:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I remember someone saying something about CTRL + - doing a zoom out? Mine doesn't do that... It would be useful...but I've got Photoshop so oh well! x3

I'll probably use a text link in my journal leading to one of your resizing tutorials, most likely the MS Paint one. Cuz everyone has MS Paint. Well...I don't know about Mac, etc. users...I've never used anything other than Windows XD;

RavenScarlett In reply to shadowkitsunekirby [2006-07-10 21:42:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Ctrl+- is a zoom out command, but I can't get my program to do that.

That'd be cool, whatever helps people to get the point. I should look into some Mac-compatible programs to start testing.

What version of windows do you use? I ask this because I know for a FACT that I was able to zoom out with Paint on my old system. XP Paint is the most inconvenient version out there -_-
