wow! incredible shot! reminds me of a brain...how did you manage to get such high magnification? Reverse lens macro or a crop?

Normal macro lens, slightly cropped... and the snail was pretty big ... Thanks a lot.

Vielen Dank... ja, ich hΓ€tt es wohl auch sofort erkannt, aber die meisten Leute achten zuwenig auf solche Details in ihrer Umwelt .

honestly didn't think that this was gonna be anything more than a pattern of simple quality, but once
opened full zoom it opens a real complexity to the photograph not only in detail, but how you got that detail
refined. Me and my wife both agree this is an excellent photo.

How did you manage to get so close?
I mean, I work with macro photography also, but this just takes it to a whole new level
Brilliant capture.
Any postedits in photoshop?

No postwork except colour... I used the canon ef-s 60 macro.

I gotta save up for a camera like that. I use a pretty regular camera... its an SLR, but nowhere near a Canon. How much did your entire setup cost you?
π: 0 β©: 1
Raventhird In reply to lifethroughalens [2006-09-01 17:36:03 +0000 UTC]
The entire setup... Hard to tell... what's included in 'entire'? The flash? The tripod? The filters? Only the cam and the lens?

lifethroughalens In reply to Raventhird [2006-09-01 17:42:35 +0000 UTC]
basically, just everything you used to take this picture. I assume just the camera and the lens... how much did both of those cost?

Raventhird In reply to lifethroughalens [2006-09-01 17:46:27 +0000 UTC]
The lens is around 400β¬, the body of the cam did cost 800β¬ a year and a half ago

For me this macro has taken on an abstract feel - if you hadn't of mentioned what it was before I wouldn't have had a clue as to the real identity! The tones have been handled really well (my monitor looks wet!) and I like how there are some natural patterns beginning to emerge from left to right.
Brilliant!

I tried it once, but I had to ... not, not everyone does, btw... it's very uncommon here in germany, e.g.

I can understand why you do not like the taste of snails. Sorry you got sick. I guess Germans are too smart to eat bugs.
I am sorta slow if you cook it in butter I will usualy eat it.

Wow! That is some macro!
Awesome job with this! What kind of lens did you use?
Btw, when I first saw the thumb for this, I thought it was elephant skin for some reason.

Yeah, it has something of an elephant skin... nature repeats itself in small structures. I used the Canon EF-S 60.
